Hozier - In the Woods Somewhere
TRUE STORY
This house has been in my family since my mom was little. I grew up in this house till I was seven, then moved away till I was fourteen, then moved back. I've been here since and I'm 25 now. But no one has ever really gone hiking in the woods behind our house. Seeing as we are talking about putting another house on the property, my husband and I went out back to look around, and see about where we would want it if we manage to get the building permit.
As we were hiking we came across this HUGE tree, bigger than all the others within sight. It's split down the middle, almost like lightning struck it, and the inside has formed a sort of cavern. Looking out was this animal skull, just staring back at whoever looked in. I'm somewhat superstitious given my belief in the fae and forest spirits, but also come with a healthy amount of skepticism. I won't say I felt threatened by the skull, quite the opposite in fact. I was amazed at the condition of it and how well kept it seems. I never felt like I wasn't supposed to be there or anything, but I did know I wasn't meant to take it.
So instead I took some pictures, and moved on. I know it's back there and would love to go see it again sometime. For now I'm happy with the photography that I have of it.
