Chapter 18: “Wane and I”

An hour has passed and still no word from Fang. All the dogs and now the wolves look to Alpha. Alpha looks at the floor and suddenly just wanted to face his demons once and for all. Ralph walks up to Alpha and asked what his plan was to stop Wane. Alpha just stared at him intently and started making his way to the double doors. The fate of the animals lied in his paws now and he knew that.

Alpha- I must face this demon once and for all guys, I can’t let him take another life from us or to you guys. I have sat back and watched, I have tolerated enough, what he did to Riley and now Charlie its sickening to me. Plus I have unfinished business with Wane personal business and he will answer to me for. I don’t want any more animals or people hurt from this monster. So, I am making the sacrifice play and saving you guys. I love you all and be safe.

Connor- you dude, you can’t fight Wane on your own, he will kill you, and in the end no one will be saved. Please you are making a big mistake reconsider on what you are about to do.

Alpha- sorry, but I already made up my mind, its time to put the past in it’s place and look towards a brighter future for all you guys. You all take care and farewell, no one follow me behind these doors. From here on out I go alone, understand?

The room became silent. Alpha looks around the room one last time and then opens one of the double doors and closes it behind him. The canines all just stand there in shock. They all knew if Alpha even step foot anywhere near Wane it was over for the poor dog. Dug decides to go after Alpha Dug shouts after Alpha to stop.

Dug- Alpha, stop! You can’t do this you are making a big mistake!

Alpha- I thought I told you to stay with the others Dug, you have a hearing problem, or you don’t like to listen?

Dug- Alpha please think about who you are going up against. This wolf is the deadliest one I have ever seen. The other wolves are terrified of him and they are trying to warn you it’s dangerous! Please just come back and rejoin us please!

Alpha- I told you I cant, I need to finally stand up for our family. Wane has taken everything and I want to know why. He will answer for Burns’s death as well. Then……we fight. It will probably kill me, but I am willing to make that choice.

Dug- you realize that this fight you are not fighting me, you are fighting a full on wolf, a huge one at that. He will rip you apart. How can you be so selfish?!

Alpha- SELFISH?! I think this is the most unselfish thing anyone could do! I am willing to stand up for both families since no one else wants to do it! Giving your life to save others is far from selfish Dug! Now I know I have not always been the nicest to you, and heck I even tried to end you. But look at where we are now. You and I stopped a bad thing from happening. We fought bad guys and destroyed the worlds deadliest weapon the call of the wild. We made a great team. I have got to admit I actually grown to like you a lot Dug. (Starts crying) and I don’t want to see you or the others to suffer anymore. This is my calling Dug. I must make our past leaders and falling dogs happy and do what’s right. I will not sit back anymore and bare the suffering that Wane will put us through.

Dug even started crying and ran over to Alpha to hug him. Dug finally agreed with Alpha and couldn’t stop him anymore. Alpha holds his paw out for a pawbump and wishes Dug the best of luck. With that Alpha turns to the door leading to the hallway. Alpha enters and locks the door then looks back at Dug through the circular window, then disappears. Alpha’s heart rate rises as he enters the main hall. He now became very focused and had tunnel vision. He was determined to end the evil that has gone on for decades. He sniffs around the floor and came to a fork. Off to Alpha’s right was the stairwell leading to the second and third floor. Alpha looks and notices paw prints going up the stairwell and paw prints continuing straight and some leading off to his right. ‘Which way do I start first,’ Alpha thought. Alpha continued going straight this led to the dining room. He opens the door and sniffs around the room. He had no scent of Fang or Wane. He sniffs the chairs and table and had nothing. Then suddenly, he hears a loud bang come from upstairs and a muffled voice as it sounded like someone was being attacked. Then a second bang occurred and then silent again. Alpha now becomes scared a little as he continues quietly back to the fork. He goes to the left which led to the closet and storage room. Poor Alpha opens the door and sees paw prints leading to the closet in the back of the room. He slowly and scarcely makes his way to the door. The paw prints go inside the room. Alpha gulps and slowly opened the cracked door to reveal that a full on fight happened in this room. Fang was on his side outcold, hopefully not dead and everything thrown upside down! Alpha walks up to Fang to check and see if he was still alive and he still had his heart beeting. Alpha breathed a sigh of relief. And he looked around for anything else that could get him to track Wane quicker.

In the loading bay the other dogs gather around and hoping for Alpha to make it out in one peace. Ralph had an idea on how to stop Wane if all else failed. He opened the side compartment on his collar and a syringe fell out. He grabs it and shows them. It wasn’t a euthanizing potent it was a knock out serum. It would be injected in Wane and he would fall asleep for a long period of time. It would help in their situation if things came to a horrifying conclusion.

Ralph- Don’t worry guys if things come to it, this baby will take him out for sure. It won’t kill him, it will just make him sleep for a good while. So the plan is, I’ll give Alpha another thirty minutes and then we move in and find Wane and get him with this. At least it will give us time to tie him up and keep him restrained. If we don’t have to I rather not use this, but it is here if we do.

Alpha leaves the storage room and reenters the hallway. He gets on his communicator and warns the pack that Wane had been attacked and it was most likely it was Wane. He also told them he was making his way to the upper levels. So Alpha continues venturing he continues forward where the stairway was. Next to the stairs were red leather couches and a crystal diamond coffee table with two single vases and a picture of old dogs that used to serve in Muntz’s pack. Slowly but surely, Alpha climbs the steps and makes his way to the second floor. This is where the cabins were and the second floor lounge was. Right at the top of the stairs was a white chef hat! This belonged to Epsilon, their chef dog! Alpha starts tearing up, he starts sobbing a little as he picks up the chef hat. His rage towards Wane only increases and he wanted to kill Wane now. Wane just made it personal.

Alpha starts sniffing away trying to find a scent of Epsilon. He opens all the doors leading to the cabins and they were all empty. He goes to the other end and searched the remaining cabins nothing was found they were all empty and clear. Then the hallway leading to the sitting room had two sets of paw prints going in the room. Alpha walks to the door and tried opening it, it wouldn’t budge. The door was barricaded so no one would enter. Alpha pushed and pushed as hard as he could. On the final push and ran and full force shoved his entire body through the door and knocking over all the stuff that barricaded the door. The sitting room was a decent size. Alpha now had a scent. He went to work sniffing out Epsilon. Sure enough Alpha located the loud bang he heard and the one screaming. Epsilon had been attacked and the shelf of books had fallen to the floor. Books were everywhere and stuff was broken. Wane was going after dogs specifically. The security dogs, Zeta and Upsilon were also attacked. Alpha now was ready to confront the wolf. He had seen enough and leaves the area. He makes his way back to the door and enters the hallway again. He makes his way to the stairwell and made his way to the third floor. The lounge, engine room and the furnace room were all on this level. Alpha decides to search the furnace room first and found nothing in here. He enters the hallway again and peaks through the engine room, which was the actual blimp part of the aircraft, three stairwells led to three escape hatches in the ceiling. Alpha closes the door and turns to his right. Two rooms were left, the lounge and the artifact room. Alpha wanted to search the lounge first because the door was slightly cracked open. Either a trap was on the other side or Wane was in here. Alpha peaks through and sure enough there was a trip wire directly behind the door, not the explosive one, the one that tears you in half. Alpha gets on his belly and crawls into the lounge and comes up safely avoiding the wire. Alpha looks around the room and sees the booths and tables where you could sit and hang out. On the right wall was a flat screen TV. At the end the room looped left into a small kitchen which had a microwave, oven fridge and coffee maker. Alpha searches the entire room and looks into the room next door. The artifact room, this room held most of Muntz’s deepest desires and personal findings. Then an evil laugh comes from the kitchen. Wane stands at the counter smirking at Alpha.

Wane- well, well, I see your not that stupid after all if your still alive. I got to say dog you are defiantly resourceful. You really have made your falling dog friends happy. They are probably up there in dog heaven smiling down at you. Well here we are face to face at last Alpha. I never thought we would ever be at this point because I really idolized you when you were younger. You had the drive to become just like me. You did for a while at least, you were the pack leader, you lost your dear adopted father and you vowed to keep the pack in a ferocious state. That is where I admired you, and for a time we pulled out because you were the dog we were looking for. See Cole was never bad, he actually wanted to combine packs to better hunt for the bird.

Alpha- You are a terrible lyer Wane. Your owner did not want to split the winnings, he wanted it all for himself, and Muntz did not want that. So your master became angry with my master and started sending you wolves out to try and eliminate us! That’s when your parents died isn’t it?!

Wane- Not another word out of your mouth Alpha! I will send you to heaven, right now! You will be reunited with Burns. How do you know about my parents?!

Alpha- Master Jon told me. We never touched your parents. Master set up traps out there and he forgot about it. So when your parents started walking they tripped the beam and set off the mines. Jeremy the pack leader at the time tried to save them but they slipped and fell into a black hole in the ground. There was nothing they could do Wane. We tried saving them but we couldn’t. From that point on your master was bitter with us since and whipping out the remaining leaders including my father Burns! You will pay for that wolf I promise you that. I knew it was you even when I was a puppy. Now we will fight to the end. Lets see who comes out on top wolf!

Wane evil laughs- Wow you really want to go to dog heaven don’t you? This is a shame I really thought you were the Alpha of our time, but when you let a golden retriever kick your butt and you lose the fight, what do you expect. You turned soft and weak Alpha. Now that you became friends with that annoying irritating retriever I now have no syponthy for you if you lose this fight. You had it all and you threw it all away!

Alpha- I was tired of being evil! I was going down a path I did not want anymore, so I chose. Now I am who I am now!

Wane- yeah weak!

Alpha- I will show you weak!

The fight begins. Alpha charges for Wane, Wane stops Alpha full force with his front paws and resists Alpha. Alpha continues pushing and manages to claw Wane’s chest and Wane grabs Alpha and shoves him to the wall! The two canines snarl and try exchanging attacks on each other. They both brutally shove each other on either wall trying to see who truly the Alpha was. Wane throws Alpha into a table top lamp breaking it and then jumping on Alpha trying to choke him! Alpha manages to claw Wane’s front left paw and tackles Wane to the ground taking a bite into his neck! He grabs Wane and struggles to hurl him into the Lounge and out of the kitchen! Wane resists heavily making Alpha shake because he was squeezing him so hard his arms became jelly arms. Wane grabs Alpha and tosses him into the booth across the room breaking one of the table top lamps. Alpha jumps down and tries to shove Wane into the floor but gets clawed multiple times and shoved into the window. Alpha looks out into the dark grey sky lighting and thunder fit the evil situation. Alpha was getting pounded repeatedly; Wane grabs him and shoves him on the floor.

In the loading area the other dogs and wolves become scared. They fear Alpha was not going to return from the battle with Wane. Ralph decides to push forward and wait in the lobby where the stairwell was. Ralph wanted to surprise attack Wane if he made his way back downstairs. He grabs a pan and carries it in his mouth. Ralph searches for Wane and found him in the same room where Alpha found him first. He wakes him up and Fang is shocked and surprised that Ralph would be the one to help him and save him.

Fang- you? I thought you were Wane’s best friend and 2nd in command? You were the meanest wolf in the pack besides Wane and here you are saving me?

Ralph- Fang, I am done with Wane! He is a psychopath amd Alpha went to to try and stop him! We warned him, but he insisted he go and fight him for the family! That dog will get himself killed we must go and stop him.

Fang- Henry is finally standing up for his family and ours. He will die trying and he knows what the stakes are for fighting him. That is a very brave and courageous dog I have ever met. I say we wait a little longer, let’s wait and see who comes down. If it’s Wane we take him out at once, if it’s Alpha then we are in the clear, sound like a plan? They all agreed and made their way to the stairwell.

Upstairs Wane was destroying Alpha he was punching him multiple times in the stomach with his big paws. Alpha was started to get bad fallings about confronting Wane. He knew Wane was overpowering him. Wane stands over a suffering Alpha, Alpha was looking over his shoulder. His vision was getting blury and he struggled to keep his head up. Wane grabs him and holds him up.

Wane- You know what really disappoints me Alpha, is the fact you actually had the guts to fight me. You really are incredibly brave or you are incredibly stupid. Either way you do not win my boy! You had everything, you had power and you had a leader rank, the youngest pack leader in history. Your weak father figure Burns must have taught you the way of the softy because here you are reverting to your old ways.

Alpha- talk about Burns again Wane I dare you, I double dare you!

Wane- Burns was a weak German shepherd who was soft and led a bunch of weaker dogs down the path of defeat, so now I am declaring myself pack leader of the wolves and the dogs. Anyone who stands against me will be eliminated. I have no problem wiping every dog out in this pack, if I must to prove my Alpha rank!

Alpha gets up and tries to attack Wane, but Wane grabs Alpha and body slams him on the carpet choking him out. Alpha desperately scans the room and sees a sharp object. He reaches for it with his left paw but struggles to reach it. He starts seeing stars as Wane nearly suffocates him. He stretches until finally grasping the object and attacking Wane’s side with it! Wane yelps as he let go of Alpha. Alpha manages to get a few blows to Wane’s chest Wane looks at Alpha with a surprised look. Then Wane Tackles Alpha to the ground once again and Alpha becomes hurt even more.

Wane- stay down, final warning Doberman.

Alpha struggles to get up, he tries attacking Wane, Wane blocks Alpha’s attack and catches his arm and hurls him through the glass window into the next room. With glass everywhere now Wane carefully makes his way to Alpha and picks him up again. Alpha claws Wane in the face, Wane throws Alpha into the book shelf on the back wall destroying it and making all the books fall on top of him! Wane smiles as victory was almost his. He walks over to the book shelf and grabs Alpha by the scruff of his neck and drops him on top of the pile. Alpha now scared of Wane was afraid to do anything else.

Wane- don’t worry Henry, you’ll be with Burns shortly, but before we get to that unpleasantness you will tell me why you decided to betray me and why you rather be enemies then friends. I idolized you when you were with Muntz. When Burns died I say that was the best thing for you. It made you into a dog. I was proud of what you became; now I am disgusted with your change. You started hanging around Dug to much and it started making you soft Henry. That’s why we are enemies now!

Henry sees the leaver that holds the giant earth ball in the corner of the room. He reaches for it, But Wane tries choking him out again. Alpha fights but can’t get Wane off. He reaches for the leaver and pulls. The earth ball falls off its restraints and starts rolling directly toward Wane he sees it coming and dodges out the way hiting his head very hard on a metal bar. He falls to the ground unconscious. Alpha slowly gets up and struggles to regain his breath. The ball crashed into the siding wall and left a major hole in it. Alpha screams as he knew that the hole would have to be patched. He struggles to maintain his balance, he was so beat up from Wane’s attacks. Alpha looks at Wane who was out cold. Alpha knew the fight was not over yet. He looks around the messy room that was caused from their fight, broken shelves were everywhere, glass all over the floor and the other room had some damage as well. Alpha gets up and limps to the door. This door was locked from the inside that is why he could not access it before. He opens the door and limps out back into the hallway. This was the biggest and hardest battle he had ever faced. The fact he faced Wane took true bravery and courage. He makes his way to the top of the stairs and looks down to the ground floor. Alpha remained alert just in case any other evil wolf decides to ambush him. Alpha slowly makes his way to the ground floor. Ralph, Fang, Dug and Britney jump out and scare Alpha. Alpha limps on his left leg from his fight.

Britney- Alpha how in the world did you manage to face Wane all by yourself?! He is a demon at heart, and we all fear him!

Alpha- trust me guys, that was only round 1, he will be coming for me now with no mercy. I did a good amount of hurting on him, but he is so strong. I can’t physically take him on, there was a few times I thought I was going to die.

Ralph- we told you Alpha this Wolf is crazy! If only you knew what he did in the past, you would have changed your mind. Look I have one way we can stop him without killing him. Behold a sleeping potent with this baby we stick him in the butt and he will fall asleep out cold! Alpha and the others agreed and they all huddle to figure out the final attack.

Upstairs, Wane opens his sky blue eyes and he stands up tensing his muscles and baring his teeth. The sky gets darker and the lighting and thunder becomes more aggressive and Wane looks to the doorway and slowly starts walking to the door. Wane now had one target and he was going straight for Alpha. He makes it to the doorway and disappears on the other side of the door!
