His aesthetic is totally lifted from Doc Black Jack. I am super into that series, and he's from a ttrpg game I'm playing, so I didn't feel guilty lifting elements from another character, as he's just indulgent, and not to sell or something. Basically for fun.

I read the manga and saw the OVA series, but could not get into the 2000's anime. I mean, who the hell thinks it's a good idea to adapt a series with extensive surgery scenes into a timeslot and/or channel that would ensue all that blood would get censored away, if it is even allowed to be seen in the first place.

I really like the manga a whole bunch. the 2000s anime was ok, but I do believe they tried to redeem his dad in a really weird way, from what I remember? It just didn't make sense.

What was your favorite of his amazing medical accomplishments and what was your least favorite? My least favorite was when he put a horses brain in the head of an American ranch owners son as a cruel joke on him after he repeatedly told him his son was inoperable. It is hard for me to pick a favorite, but right now I think it's when he linked this foreign national in hiding's wife and sons cardiovascular system together to filter the bad blood out (it was something along those lines, and it was so gonzo crazy, I loved it)!

Honestly, two of my faves are when he had to operate on himself in the outback, beset by dingoes, and the one where he freaked out because a needle broke in a guy's body, but passed through his circulatory system unharmed.

Least fave is likely how he somehow cured TB with surgery and how Kei was handled.

The needle one just gives me anxiety, even though that is IN NO WAY how the blood system and needles work. A needle once broke in me, they just pulled it out, but remembering that story almost out me into a downward spiral of brainmelting panic.
