These two little baby rats (between 2 and 2 1/2 months in age) were daughters of my heart rat, Rodney, that I sadly had to leave behind at the pet store they were at. However, when I went back, they were still there, the little hairless one being very skinny and unable to eat due to an overgrown tooth. I couldn't leave them there again...
These two little girls are in quarantine right now, the little hairless (Zoe) being treated for dehydration. Overall, they are doing great, and superfriendly.
Zoe on the left, Casey on the right, sharing a nice cold drink of water in their new cage :).

It really is sad how these girls were kept. The little hairless girl was so dehydrated I had to give her subQ fluids last night. She is bruxing like CRAZY getting used to having normal teeth and human contact. The other girl is in pretty good shape, but I couldn't leave her. They were going to sell her as food because she "didn't come out hairless"... and she was in a cage with 2 pretty sick looking adult female hairless girls. I just wish I could take them all home and save them all..
It wasn't about them being in a pet store, moreso that Zoe (they sell hairless as pets) was skin and bone. She actually is missing one of her bottom teeth, meaning in order to live I have to trim her top incisor on the right side every 2 weeks to keep her tooth from growing back into her mouth. Most of my rescues are from bad situations (one I have now was living in a canary cage, being carried around by a homeless woman with no water bottle), but I will save rats from pet stores if the rats need it.
