A bit of an update on the railroad.
New goodies include a Kato island platform w/ flyover station, a Kato 119 Series Iida Line EMU 2 cat set, 2 crossover switches, a few new freight cars, containers, a container mover (for bigger containers, but I don't have any of those... yet), and a bunch of other bits and bobs like cars, more catenary poles, etc.
With the exception of decorative items, I think I have everything I need to start building the scenery now. The lower level will be more or less as seen here, with most of it covered over by the upper level. Just the front and the curves will be left exposed.
Single track access to the upper level will be via the switch jutting out from the back of the layout. It will go up and around the far end, leading to the town and station on top.
Th idea is that trains can continuously run on the bottom level, or run point-to-point route from the hidden staging yard, up to the station on top and then back again.
The whole layout will be fitted for manual Arduino assisted control, as well as for fully automatic operation. It will also come apart in 3 2 foot x 2 foot sections, with additional components for the ramp up to the upper level on the back.
Yes, cheetah is crazy. But you didn't need to be told that, did you? =>.>=
