K: "Hey, I can feel you shaking. Are you alright?"
C: "Y-Yeah... I'm fine with the first Friday the 13th movie, but it's the sequels that creep me out."
K: "For real? I never figured eldritch horrors from beyond the void would have a weakness for campy 80s slasher films!"
C: "Not just any slasher films! The ones with Jason in them."
K: "Jason Voorhees? He's just a guy in a hockey mask."
C: "He's an immortal psychopath that keeps coming back to life! And his name is JASON!"
K: "...am I missing something here?"
C: "Have you ever heard the tale of Jason and the Argonauts? The Greek hero who sailed in search of the golden fleece?"
K: "Once or twice..."
C: "Well... what sort of creature do you think they had to skin to create the fleece in the first place?"
K: "Oh damn! I never made that connection before. Are you okay to keep watching?"
C: "I will be... just don't mind me if I cling to you a little tighter during certain parts."
K: "Heh. You can squeeze me as much as you like."
Late night movie marathons with the members of your cult are every bit as important as performing profane rituals! At least, according to Canthus. As the supervillain thief Kyle's corruption advances, he finds himself spending more and more time with his eldritch benefactor. Discovering that even spawn of horrors from beyond the stars can still find certain movies scary... particularly when it involves flashbacks to bloody and brutal ancient myths in which they took part.
This fantastic piece was done courtesy of
Carduelis, and it was a pleasure to work with them again! They did a wonderful job with Canthus' more updated design and captured just the feeling I was looking for in this more wholesome scene. It was also fun to revisit the superhero/supervillain narrative of
starlightwyvern and his various characters. ^^

Such and cruel and evil goat requiring such vile acts from his followers...
This is so cute! From what I've seen, Canthus does seem to care deeply for all his followers, even if they're not quite in the same shape by the end. Better deal than you'd get from most Lovecraftian entities...
I love the bit of lore that he inspired the myth of the Golden Fleece! Explains why he hates Jason so much. I love this wholesome bit of eldritch fluff!

Canthus is indeed a vile and wicked aberration.
He twists and warps every soul that comes under his sway and hoards them as one might hoard precious and unique treasures.
Greece does hold a lot of memories for him too. Some of them good, some of them quite unpleasant.
