I am thinking that this shadowy person is a person that shows the true emotions of an individual. Saurus it seems, to have a good heart, but always in the wrong place at the wrong time and his anger issues seem to take the best of him in those stressful situations. The shadowy person is just helping him figure out that looking mean and being big doesn't always equal being a villain.
Okay, first that "shadowman" seemed to be a villain. Now he seems to be manipulating events (and I suppose you could say doing evil deeds) in order to forge Suarus into a hero. Hm, kinda reminds me of the movie "Unbreakable" in a way. I can see why you purposfully call him "antagonist", rather than villain. There is quite a distinction between those two words. But what has me is how doing this will make Suarus "fit his needs" as mentioned 2-3 pages ago? Man, I like characters like Suarus, and I'm really curious as to where he'll end up at the end of this.
That's a bit of how I'm reading it too, that the shadowy character is providing tests to mold Saurus into a hero or ensure he fails and presumably becomes useless to him. Either that or he finds him useful as either a hero or villain but not while he's caught in the middle ground of just being 'human' with good and evil impulses.
