Yeah, it was weird.

Back when Afterbirth first came out, there were a bunch of interesting things that they toyed around with. The funniest thing was the developers locking away more than half the unlockable items for the first 120+ hours when it was released as a tongue-in-cheek jab at dataminers figuring out how to unlock The Lost back when you had to die in specific ways on specific floors to specific enemies 4 times to get him (Now all you need is to kill yourself as Isaac in a Sacrifice Room with Missing Poster)

They ended up having to remove the Blood Bank from Greed Mode’s shop because of how easy it was to break the game with it, but in that same patch, they tweaked a few items and somehow Azazel got tweaked too. Basically, they meant to slightly reduce his damage in exchange for faster Brimstone charge, but.... the end result was Azazel being able to fully charge his laser in 1.5 seconds, but it literally took the entire duration of the beam in order to kill a basic spider or fly. 😅
