Just happened upon this. A little bit envious - my car isn't in nearly as good condition. It's in multiple pieces here and there. '70 318 Duster with a 340 twin scoop hood and spoiler. Ran and drove until I took it apart for resto. Floor pans, trunk pan, rockers, lower cowl, inner fenders, and rear subframe are all basically toast. They looked alright until I started degreasing and scraping the tar and undercoating off and then my floor started flaking away with it. Sad. But the rest of the body is straight, so there's that.

Well right now she is down and of need of some brake work. I guess im just going to do a disc brake conversion.
Also i know how you fell on the pans. Mine are not at all perfect. There are a couple rust holes in the driver side floor pan and the bottom of the quarters are starting to rust.

I think somebody tried throwing in new pans on top of the old rusted ones without actually removing them because the floor is doubled up. Both rusted through, of course.

That sucks. Well its always an adventure when you restore. I hope you dont give up on it.

Spasibo. Unfortunately I hate body work, nor do I have the tools to do it. May have to outsource that part. When it comes to engine building and the electrical, fuel, vacuum, etc. systems I should be able to fly through that without any trouble. Always been more adept with the functional aspects than the art portion.

Well im kinda the opposite. But i can do a little motor work with out any problems. Like i said though i more comfortable with the body work part. Lol

Do you have a rotisserie for major repairs?

Ya but i havent used it in 6 or so years. It just sits in the back of the shop in the shed.

Lucky. I'd probably give body work a shot if I had one. But then I'd have to buy some better welding equipment because all I have is stick and gas, which are kinda sloppy.

Ya i like a wire feed welder myself.
