This was a fun one and I'm delighted that the card this illustration is for is pretty decent too! The creature is called a Groff, they are dog-like, swamp dwelling ambush predators.

I've been entertaining myself by having a little wonder about the morphological features that might evolve on a canid adapting to this niche. For example, a dog's nose would be excellent for ambush predation, since it's a remarkably sensitive and accurate directional infrared sensor, a bit like a rattlesnake's pits. I'm wondering about the dentition, though... I wonder if a Groff might graduallly evolve to have teeth more like a cayman, specialised to holding prey rather than dissecting it?
