well i finally figured out a name for these lizard taurs, and some lore for em
The Tao-Bie are a species of normally green, Tauric reptilians, which share some superficial anatomical similarities to Hadrosaurs from Earth's distant past. While not resembling any single species, they are clearly distinguished by their method of locomotion. Their general appearance resembles that of Centaurs from human mythology, albeit their bodies are not an amalgamation between 2 distantly separated species.

Their large muscular lower body is where the majority of their organs are located and features four legs and a thick tail. This tail features a retractable thermoregulating sail, normally coloured pink, which is used for temperature management and as a display structure in males. A similar sail is present running from the base of the neck and down their humanoid torso but is more reduced in females. The male's larger sail is used in peaceful intraspecific competition for mates and commonly is more colourful than the tail sail. The front legs which generally are used as part of their locomotory system feature an opposable digit on the back of the foot used to help them grasp objects and pass them to their upper arms. The rear legs also are more muscular than the front and can support the body for brief periods if reaching into high up locations is needed. The head features a small rigid crest, eyes with a typically pink iris with a light blue sclera, and a slight duck-bill.

They are omnivorous but generally their diet composes purely of vegetable matter, but during celebrations ranging from birthdays to a new year coming around, meat may be consumed.
At their time of discovery by the Silveknar in 2295, their technology was comparable to that of early 21st century Earth and they were yet to develop faster than light travel. Their home system was along with others contained within a large interstellar dust cloud, and was only explored by the Silveknar after a navigation buoy was set up nearby by a Silveknar starship during a routine interstellar journey. Subsequently the Silveknar sent ships in to explore and exploit the resources of the star system which sparked a war between the 2 species. Early on the Tao-Bie were able to capture and reverse engineer Silveknar technology to help push them out of the system. With their new capacity for interstellar travel, they maintained persistent attacks on the Silveknar for many years.
