Yes, the task was to draw green pepper twice, once from your memory only and once from life, I think it's pretty easy to tell them apart ;)
Again I was surprised, had not expected to find the exercise rather easy, seems that I can work much better in broad daylight, outside, than inside. Or whatever factor it is that makes me feel easier about drawing than before. The use of a rubber was forbidden, to not waste time and to show which parts one corrected, though I used it to lighten up the highlights a tiny bit (did not spoil the purpose of not using one). Another part of the task was to draw "blindly", drawing while looking at the pepper instead of the paper. Another thing that astonished me, it was just the shading I had to look down at the paper more often.
Other than that: will be put into scraps, of course ^^

You know, I'll bet it's the lighting. Outdoor lighting is just plain BETTER, and the shadows are a lot less harsh. I think it actually came out fairly well, it's instantly identifiable for what it is, which is reasonably impressive in and of itself, since there are quite a few things food-wise with the same general proportions. No great surprise that the one with a model came out better, I'd be hard pressed to describe one to you accurately myself, never mind draw one realistically. XD
I'm not sure, maybe it's just the high spirits that sunshine causes in me, it has always done, I'm born in summer and I am a complete summer person. If I was rich I'd definitely be moving to a place with something like steady spring or summer. Or change places constantly and follow the sun.
Thanks, I was surprised that I could actually make the one by heart look like I wanted it to look (though without any details in shading and such). The purpose of the task was to show that one has something like a symbolic picture of everything in one's mind, but never all the details that make it look so vivid.
"Seeing instead of knowing" is one of the advices given. Since I did graduate from college in graphic-arts I knew the result beforehand and often enough am fully aware what an exercise is meant to be, but it's interesting to work on it in a field that we never covered, like life-drawing (we fully concentrated on and specialised in digital media).

That's actually a well-known condition, I don't remember the real name for it, but "Seasonal Affective Disorder" comes to mind. It's more of a mood thing than a disorder, as I recall, but it means you feel happier during the summer than the winter. I tend to be a spring-and-fall person myself, I love the cooler weather and the changes in nature around me. Perhaps that's because I'm a photographer and the season changes have the best and brightest colours. :)
There's always kind of a fun interest in finding new bits of your field, isn't there? I run into that all the time, especially when I figure out how to solve something simple but intriguing because I know the basic principles behind it. I'd never really considered the image-in-mind thing... I'm actually tempted to give something like that a shot myself, just to see what I can turn out. About all the drawing I've ever done has been drafting, making scaled drawings from precise perspective of a dimensioned object. Never really had much luck just free-drawing something, but I might give it a shot and see what happens!
