This one's heavily influenced by what I've heard of Indian music, more specifically the sitar. This is why my vocals are so damn wavery.
I wanted to do something with a kinda complicated rhythm and I found that in the last bit of the chorus, this was also my break away from folk for a change.
Lyrics:
All the grace, all beauty I can muster, can’t compare with you
dancing steps, floating weightless, only one I serve to
rope me, chain me, throw away the key
the expanses in your eyes have changed what it means to be free
If I’m the bottom, who’s the top
if I’m the sell-out, who’s the flop
if I’m the robber, who’s the cop
save your face it’s my disgrace if you
Can’t be there then don’t
count the days, pass the hours, seconds on the minute
the weeks seem like days in the pit when you’re in it
no don’t let me see the light, I want to be here
solitude only interrupted by your presence has wrung out all the fear
Chorus
circumvent, feel, taste the pain oh
circumvent, throb, whip, and strain oh
circumvent, snap, rip and stain oh
miscreant, don’t make the same mistake
Chorus

I need to listen to your stuff on headphones more often. the stereophonics you have going on here are incredible and i absolutely love that intro it gets all my psychedelic rocks off:) Those lyrics sound pretty inspired were you thinking about anything in particular when you were writing this on?
hooray psychedelic! thank you
I had the chorus written, then I had nothing beyond that. then I thought, hey bondage is weird
I was thinking about "Okay I can kinda get where people would want to be dominant, but why do people want to be bossed around like that?"
so I wrote it from the point of view of a submissive. You can also read past that and it falls into several second meanings depending on what you want it to mean.
It was originally gonna be, "from the bottom, to the top" but that's so boring, so i drew a parallel with gay slang. I also don't have a full understanding of people who are totally into that. I see it as the top getting all the enjoyment, but apparently there's the whole other side of the coin that seems like the dark side of the moon to me.
WOW it's 5am and I have had no sleep, Hopefully this long thing makes sense!

Speaking as one who used to be on the other side of the coin, there is definitely something nice about being submissive and being dominated. The problem is that such relationships often end up abusive. I have a saying that there are no good tops in the fandom. You could actually apply that the the entire gay community. Most guys with dominant personalities are BAD PEOPLE with serious emotional and psychological problems. This puts any sub that comes there way in a really bad position. Fortunately after a few years of figuring this out I have a decent boy friend now but hes kinda subby too.
I'm scared to step over the boundary of "you have no idea what you're talking about" but yeah, what happens when 2 subs get together? they do seem like generally nicer people but then I can't tell dominant gays from regular straight douche bags. I'm fascinated mostly because it's so foreign and I don't know if i"ll ever fully understand all the ins and outs. The psychology of the thing. I guess it depends on how far I'm willing to venture
Generally speaking being a douche bag and dominant are one in the same. The best Thing to do if your gay is to find yourself a nice switch. They tend to be the sanest but nobody is perfect. It would be nice to see healthier relationships in the fandom. there simply aren't enough of them.
Nice! I've lived in Asia for a long time now :P The beginning is pretty true to the style, of course not exactly the same, but that's what you get when you mix styles, which you've again done wonderfully, throughout the piece you've got the whole "vibe" but it's never too much.
I'd really call it more Pakistani than Indian though, Indian music from the main parts of the continent is dull. And hurrah! the guitar part you've written really does carry the rhythm of the song on it's own, quite beautiful how it all comes together. My next large scale piece is very much orient inspired

You remind me so much of Eddie Vedder here!!! Wow! But you have way more beautiful voice than him. This is truly amazing piece, so original!!! And as with my last comment, I really can't find more words to describe how much I like this. And it is really hard to make me shut up and listen. :D
