Not every individual in a gnoll clan needs to be raised and trained for war. In fact, a few of the clan are in relative 'charge' of cooking and preparing food for the rest of the clan! If everyone was off to war, then who would prepare dishes for the warriors? Gref Stonecleave is one such example of a dutiful 'chef' of the clan. He was one of Jardakk's childhood friends growing up, along with Fugresh Sharpclaw and Grun Scarfur. While the other three pursued to hone their skills in battle, Gref had eyes on a different sort of future for himself. Gref was always a simple-minded individual. As a pup, his father was a cook for the clan, preparing meals and food for the entire clan, and Gref always wanted to follow in his father's footsteps to uphold his family's 'legacy', as simple as it might seem and appear. In his family there is a special cleaver, 'The Carver', that has been passed down from generation to generation in Gref's family, and now, as an adult, he wields the very cleaver his father and his father's father (and so on so forth) used to prepare food for the clan. It was an honor to Gref when the special heirloom was finally delivered to his hands. Not everything in life has to be excessively fancy or 'flashy' or expensive. No, sometimes the most important things in life are the simple things. To the ignorant eye, Gref's cleaver might seem as rugged and as plain as any, but to members of the Darkfell clan, they know the value and the importance of the cleaver within the family name of 'Stonecleave'.
