One of the sketches I did at AC 2010. This was a commission I did for Tigarr S who wanted an Angel Roxi with wings and a low-cut dress asking "Do you want a hug?"

Hmmm... I think I could have gotten them better with some reference. Just plan out how they radiate in layers from the 'elbow' of the wings. I think! It's not just a grid. Overlap the feathers that are in front of other ones to show the angle of the wing in 3D space. Drawing things from life always look better when you're looking at a model, because a photo can only tell you so much. But a photo tells you a lot more than just trying to remember how something works.
I have this hanging right next to my computer....
The reason I asked for this (not to get too emotional) was I had lost my father that April (Easter sunday 2010) and already had plans to go to AC that year made well before then and just needed some time away but I like giving / receiving hugs and sometimes a hug can do wonders so....
and now I'm dealing with the loss of my brother-in-law who passed away Christmas night...
