And finally the service concludes and right after the final hymn I play something as everyone leaves. In this case I played an improvisation; that is, I made everything up as I went, no sheet music, nothing to tell me where to go, just playing whatever I come up with right in the moment I am playing.

For about two years now, but piano I had known since 11, though now organ is my principal instrument. I had a question, what denomination church do you go to? I play at a Catholic and a United Methodist Church. This particular service I uploaded was United Methodist. The great thing about the different denominations is that AT LEAST they all sing mostly the same hymns. Otherwise I'd be learning twice as much music.
I'm Catholic and I love singing in our Choir. I've played a little organ as well, but I practice but rarely. I'm trying to get into the habit of at least two hours of practice a week so I an play a few pieces a year. I'm afraid I don't have the time for anything more.
Ironically, our organist is a Lutheran, but he's a cool guy. He shows me the music he's working on. He just started learning Langlais Medieval Suite. I love the last movement which just basically has all the stops come out. Wow!
And I'm very impressed with what you've been able to do in two years! You are definitely going to make a great organist.
