Millennium's End [comm]
>> Original art by
undyingsong. Compliments to the artist, the texture and lines evoke a deeply-religious feel and iconography you'd find in some Latin American art. It's not a stretch to imagine Ezra having this made as a retablo painting.
"Why won't you accept what happened to the world? To us? Have you no regret for the thousands of lives you will force to suffer by this?" begged the former al-Masih, with a profound hurt showing through his pale blue eyes. "My regrets are why I'm doing this, Abe." Tears were streaming from the lion's eyes, which no longer glowed with the grace of a higher power. Ezra couldn't tell if Abram even heard his answer, but he stayed until all the life flowed out from his former comrade's wounds.
With bloodied hands, he carefully closed Abram's eyes. He held the man closer to himself, and set a kiss on his forehead. Some time would pass before the temple attendants realise something was wrong, and Ezra was ready to leave before the Thousand Year Kingdom began to crumble back into the wastelands that surround it.
>> Ezra had to do terrible things to gain the slim chance at pressing an Almighty Rewind Button, fixing everything, but this is probably the worst. He did love Abram, and up till the end he never knew if Abram felt the same way about him.
Ezra's tale is one of "earning a less-than-downer ending" and assuming it succeeds, it leads directly to the alternate realities of Shattered Dreams and Lockdown.
