Depending on how old it is / the make, laptops are fairly useless for upgrades. it might be time for a new one. Towers at least you can gut and swap

it's not that old. When I bought it, I could have opted to 8 gig but felt 4 gig was plenty. (I remember when they said speed would never be above 333 HZ. Come to find out, it takes a good deal of the ram just to run windows. By the by - new windows will only run Microsoft 'approved' programs. If a company does not pay the licensing fee too bad. My brother had to get a new lap top to do his taxes, and the only one that would work for him was pink. *laughs...

New RAM would cost me about $180.00 so it's not that bad.
