(This is a POV story where you play the role of a character who suddenly wakes up in the middle of what looks to be New York City. However, upon further investigation you find that your surrounded by anthros! The question is what happens now?)
*On a side note, in this story anthros lack the ingenuity and creativity of humans. So you have an advantage when faced with certain situations that call for… creative solutions. Well… Enjoy! I’m a new writer so be sure to give feedback! Thanks!
You’re Life In An Anthro’s World (Part 2)
Part 2: The Chase
"Kiba Lockheart, the human that's not your property" you reply defiantly as you fold you're arms over you're chest.
Silvia crossed her arms as an amused chuckle escaped her lips, "Defiant little thing, aren't you?" She adjusted her glasses before stepping closer to you and eying you up and down as if she were sizing you up. "That's alright, you'll learn how to behave yourself soon enough."
Mayor Deluma reached down and cupped you're lower jaw and cheeks in her paw before bending down and turning your face every which way while she examined you. At this point you realize that her one paw is big enough to encompass most of your face in her palm. This doesn't intimidate you though as you jerk you're face out of her paw and back away from her. "I have respect, I just don't give it to people like you."
Deluma snarled and bared her fangs at you befor approaching you with clenched fists. Before she reached you though, Luna jumped between you and the mayor. "I was just about to take him to the station until we figure out what to do with him. While he's there I figure we can get to know him and possibly-"
"-The station?!" Deluma echoed while raising an eyebrow, "Get to know him? Captain, he's a human, not a lost pup. He should be on his way to a lab for analysis and study!"
Luna was taken aback by the mayor's response, "Mayor Deluma, with all do respect he is a living and sintient being! He has rights and he's only a boy! We can't just lock him up to poke him and prod him!"
Deluma sighed and placed a hand on her forehead while shaking her head, "Captain Barker, you raise valid points, but I must remind you that he is a HUMAN. Humans are supposed to be mythical, as such a creature has come into our midst, we should take advantage of the opportunity to study him and understand him, the best place for that is a lab. And as far as rights go, again... He's HUMAN, the last time I checked, only ANTHROS had rights here." Luna clenched her fists and growled in response. Deluma stared her down as she removed her paw from her forehead. "Now I want him taken into custody and delivered to 'SD Labs' within the hour.
Luna shook her head, "I’m sorry mayor, I can’t do that. This is a police matter, so I’m afraid I can’t follow your request." You inwardly sigh in relief at hearing this. You’ve only known this Deluma woman for two minutes and from what you understand, you don’t want to spend more than one minute alone with her.
Deluma's tails flared as she marched up to Luna until her snout was touching Luna's, "You don't have a choice 'Captain'!" Deluma hissed, "As I told the boy, I own this city and the region around it. That includes the police force! Either you carry out my instructions, or Turn in your badge, find another job and I'll have someone else do it."
You silently prayed that Luna would protect from the harsh Mayor, she’s got to have some kind of authority doesn’t she? She is a police captain after all. Besides that, she seems to want what's best for you and if all goes well, she may even be able to find someone who knows how to send you home. It sure beat trying to survive Deluma on your own. Speaking of whom, Deluma was still arguing with Luna and becoming more agitated by the second.
"You're beginning to try my patients Captain!” Deluma snarled, “I'm giving you one last chance to follow my orders before I decide to have you arrested.”
Luna started to open her mouth to protest, but instead she closed it before sighing. "Let the record show that I strongly disagree with your demands," she stated sadly.
"Noted, now get on with it" Deluma snapped with a dismissive wave as she turned to leave.
“I suddenly feel like I should’ve run…” You think to yourself as you look for an opening to escape through, but the entire area was blocked off by doberman and german shepherd anthros.
Luna turned to face you and knelt down to you, "I'm sorry," She whispered, "But this is the only way I can help you for now..." She put a pair of handcuffs around your hands but left them unlocked. You looked up at her confused. "As soon as you're told, make a run for it. Find someplace you can stay hidden; I'll find you when I can."
"But where am I supposed to go?" You ask.
Luna gave you a warm smile, "I have faith in you human. It's been said that your kind are clever and adaptive, though physically inferior to our kind. I sense that you are not one to give up easily... you'll find a way." Luna then turned to a female Doberman anthro and motioned for her to come. When she reached you, Luna whispered something in her ear.
"I understand Captain, I'll take care of it" The Doberman replied before walking over to you. She was a head shorter than Luna, but still two heads taller than you. She grasped your arm and walked you toward what looked like a prison van. You resisted, not wanting to go without a fight. The Doberman officer looked down at you with a small smile, "Tell me human, do you really think you can fight against my strength?" She asked.
"I'll never know unless I try" You growl at her, "Besides, you don't scare me! I won’t just roll over and die."
The Doberman's smile faded and was replaced by a stern frown, "That attitude itself could be the death of you," She warned.
"I'm not ready to die," you admit causing the Doberman to tilt her head in curiosity, "But I'm not afraid to die either! I'm not so attached to the fear of dying that I'm willing to live in submission. I'll keep fighting and surviving… whatever it takes."
The Doberman actually looks shocked at your words. After a few seconds pass, she cracks a wry grin, "I can see why the Captain likes you so much! You're so high spirited... it’s amazing really. I really do hope we get to see each other again." The Doberman continues to walk you towards the van, but just before she gets there, she pushes you while at the same time yanking the cuffs off of your wrists. You turn around dumbfounded, but you then realize what was happening. She was going to free you all along, she was simply testing you, trying to see what you would do if she bullied you a little. "Now's the time to run," She advised. "Oh, and Mercy! I expect you to remember that word the next time we meet... Kiba Lockheart."
You stare back at her wondering why she would say that. "But what does that have anything to do with-"
"The human's escaped!" The Doberman called, "I need backup!" She then turned to you and gave you a small smile as if to say, 'good luck.'
You nod to her and turn to run down the street as several German Shepard officers come chasing after you. "I'll never outrun them on a long stretch like this, gotta level the playing field" You think to yourself as you duck into an alley. The alley was slightly narrow, but nowhere near narrow enough to stop your pursuers. You then spot a fire escape on the side of one of the buildings you're between. Deciding it’s your best chance of escape, you leap into the air and cling to it before climbing it like your life depended on it, which it kinda did as far as you knew.
"He's on the fire escape!" One of the officers shouted.
"Don't let him get away!" Cried another.
As you climb the escape, you immediately notice a problem, these fire escapes were designed for anthros, and as such their bigger and the bars you're using to climb were spaced much further apart which in turn slowed you down. The German Shepherds on the other hand were having no problem at all and gaining on you. You think you're in trouble until you notice an open maintenance grate at the top of the escape. When you make it through the grate, you slam it shut behind you and take off your belt to tie it shut to the top of the escape, double knotting it for safe measure. "That should hold'em for a while," You mutter before running off across the rooftop, with only the moonlight shinning on your back. Coming up on a gap between the buildings you leap across the gap, tucking and rolling as you hit the ground on the next rooftop over. "Huh, who know that free running would actually save my life?" You pant while looking over your shoulder expecting the police to be on your trail soon. As if on cue, you hear an echoing snap and a resounding metal clang behind you. You knew that they'd broken through your makeshift lock and they'd be hot on your tail within the minute. Unfortunately, you were so busy looking behind you that you failed to see the skylight in the roof in front of you. You tripped over the edge of the skylight before falling through it. You fell into what looked like a grocery store, but that wasn't the biggest thing on your mind at the moment. You came crashing down on a shelf towards the back of the store. The force of your body falling on the shelf caused it to collapse, but it did break your fall. You lay on the ground staring up at the window you fell through while surrounded by the remains of the shelf and bits of broken glass.
