This is the story of Hershel. Hershel is a dweller, a species of people bred specifically to be eaten. For centuries they served as perfectly obedient edible slaves. Until a sudden mutation caused them to become indigestible... This caused "The Great Starvation". Their former masters (later colloquially referred to as Gobblers) came to the brink of extinction. They had become too reliant on their dweller servants for their everyday needs and as main food source.
But even during this catastrophe, the dwellers did not rebel. They did what they were created for: serve their masters. And thus society was rebuilt from the ground-up.
Now, several 100 years later the dweller livestock has become the regular working class. This is where Hershel's story begins. Hershel is going through a severe mid-life crisis when Brine (a gobbler) steps into his life. Throwing Hershel off his mundane routine...
Will contain: M/m mainly, OV, AV, sex, drama, some funny things, some depressing things.

If that's what it was like in the past between those races then is there any kind of animosity between the 2 in the day and age they live in currently? I know there wasn't any kind of rebellion since that's part of the plot but since their oppressors couldn't do what they normally do anymore did that lead up to any kind of blame being placed on the ones they used to eat since they lost the chance to do that anymore? Plus with the ones that got eaten did they hold any kind of grudge against their eaters since they didn't have to worry about that happening anymore, which in that sense maybe they might have felt some kind of satisfaction from the situation/scenario happening when they saw what their masters were suffering through?
'Kay! I'll give you my mental bullet points from the notes/sketches i still got lying around... It's dealing with some heavy stuff, just be warned that it's a super happy ending.
- After the incident between Blake and Hershel, Hershel goes to Brine's apartment to find him there unconscious.
- Brine ate the poisonous butterfly he kept in a jar, with suicidal intent.
- Brine survives, ends up in hospital. Hershel visits him a few days later.
- Hershel talks a long time to Brine. Saying he should have noticed sooner that Brine's been dealing with some serious depression underneath the happy attitude. It ends with him suggesting that they both move back into Brine's home, the Mudlands. Since Hershel no longer has a job that binds him to the city, he wants to do something new & crazy. Anything to escape the routine he's been dealing with all his life.
Hershel says something like "I know it's selfish, but i don't to let you go. How about we be lonely together?"
Brine says something along the line of "Didn't mean to hurt Hershie, never mean to hurt anyone."
In the end they both hug, Brine cries, Hershel cries. Lotsa crying and hugging.
The final scene would have shown both of them on their way out of the city, hand in hand. That's pretty much it for Brine & Hershel's story.
Tawny is still a cop in the city, content with her life and remains single.
I also got some notes on Blake, he becomes kind of a superstar/cult leader, some Dwellers sacrificing themselves voluntarily to him. He gets features on talk shows, lol.
