Custom Murcielago
lol jsut a random pic i got off google and i thoght i put it up ere 4 u to show ^^ i xD lol
(just kidding)
After almost one month of cursing, sweating and hard work, I finally managed to put together my first car model in 3ds max!
The idea started out when I again wanted to do a custom carpaint, like I used to in the game Trackmania Sunrise a few years ago, But I didnt want to simply download a 3D model and use it, since it would have felt like stealing someone elses work.
That was when I decided, to model my own car. At first I wanted to go above and beyond and come up with a new design for a car, but I quickly realized that it was way over my head, since modelling after blueprints is hard enough.
So I settled with the Lamborghini Murcielago as reference, since I was really into the look of the car for quite a while.
So I started going through tutorial after tutorial and slowly but steadily made my way to creating the basic body mesh. I started over about 2 or 3 times, and lost my motivation halfway through, since in most tutorials you find much better final results than your first model will be, so it's easy to get frustrated.
Though I managed to find my motivation back, when the Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit debut trailer
was released.
After hours and hours of tweaking and adjusting the car body, it finally looked the way I wanted - though I had to deviate quite a bit from the blueprints I used as reference, so the car is more a customized version of the original murcielago. But thats okay I guess, its nice to have a personal touch on this model, so it is a good compromise between my original idea and the use of real car blueprints.
After the body was done, the rest was modelled pretty quickly. Though I decided to exclude the interior for now, since I really wanted to finish this project and not leave it half done, just because I couldnt get the interior to look right.
I'm really satisfied with the final result and you'll be definitely see this car a lot more in future pictures, and possibly even in action if I get it scripted and rigged to create a video with it.
Enjoy!
