Prompt: margin (bullshit filter disabled)
MarGin (mahr-dzhin), noun.: The first alcoholic beverage distilled on the planet Mars in 2095. The name is a portmanteau of Mars and gin, and was created by ESA scientist Marijke van Roon with assistance from fellow scientist Andrei G. Mosvaisky.
The chemical precursors for MarGin were extracted from Martian rocks and the southern polar ice cap and combined with botanicals from the Aelita Base greenhouse. The first production run of one liter was pronounced “disappointing” in Mosvaisky’s laboratory log, with the appended note “But we will try again.” Later batches were of improved quality, at 45% alcohol by volume, the rest of the sample consisting of water and organic chemicals from the botanicals.
Testing and tasting on Earth produced a report that the beverage had a slightly fruity and metallic aroma, with an almost astringent start and a floral finish.
MarGin was not a financial success, due to the high cost of extracting the necessary chemicals and transporting it to Earth.
