Yes! I need to come up with a more diabolical, warpstone and brass infused design to fit the skaven theme, but crossbows are pretty much their thing! It should still look laughably inferior to other ranged weapons tho.
Since they have a bad relationship with clan Skryre they opted to rely on stolen equipment. Clan Eshin doesn't really support mad and heretical technology either. One day a Shmick clanrat got their claws on a crossbow. And since skaven are naturally ingenious, a repeating crossbow was born.

To be fair, crossbows pack a hell of a punch and are adept at puncturing armor with deadly precision- more than your average longbow. A LOT more. Not to mention a crossbow is far, far, far, FAR less-likely to blow up in one's hands, so having a bad relation with Clan Skryre might actually save lives, lol.

Clan Shmick is a thrall clan to Eshin. So the bad relations come naturally! :D
Clan Skryre basically wanted to put them in one of their diabolical machines and sell the wool for their own gain. Clan Eshin demands loyalty and supply of woolly cloaks/armor for northern operations. So it is a win-win in my eyes.

Oh no no no. XD Thank you so much but what I meant was to maybe make a new Skaven OC of a different, already-canon clan, to have fiddle with a bow. Though of course with would either be for fun or appear in my second story that I mentioned I was working on, and to have a reason for the individual using a bow to begin with. Lot of brainstorming potential, but in all honesty, I wouldn't have it any other way.
