Another four hours in. It feels a little more like there's light hitting it to me, and I'm happier with the composition, but it's still Not There Yet. More wrestling is slated for later this week via Livestream! Watch as Berbie gets smacked around by a muscular, antagonistic collection of ones and zeroes!

Its kinda a weird thing because its so reminiscent of traditional paintings in color, composition and subject matter, but the digital aspect is really starting to show through in this stage. I think it's coming along nicely and taking shape, but I dunno how I feel about that texture in there, thats the only thing that rubs me the wrong way. Maybe its personal preference, tho, cause in digital paintings I prefer a look that emulates smooth oils more than a rough hard brushed look. But then again a lot of painters use this look, its very impressionistic, just not somethin I do.

The textures will definitely get toned-down; background paintings usually take 2-4 days, depending on how elaborate they are, and this one started its life as a piece of concept art. The painting and I had different ideas on how to evolve. :P
Not pretentious, just an expression of opinion! When I work on my own I tend towards the Impressionists and the Orientalists. I love vivid color and rough brush strokes.
