Coral Beach | Alien (Other) | Scenery
★ Side-Project ★
This is the finished version of the Coral Beach sketches I posted a few weeks ago for my project, Kaleida.
Coral Beach is my first Kaleida location, and the first of many.
Many years ago, the reef was alive with corals, including giant table corals. Over time they died, leaving behind their rich-red skeletons. The shift of the tectonic plates moved the reef above sea level and beyond until the whole shelf rose clear of the ocean. The result in the current day is that the beach and a few kilometers inland are covered in red arenas of 20 to 30 meters diameter.
Neolithics - mukash and kasulam - live on those red arenas. When they want shelter they hide under the coral above their own. They are sociable and community-minded, and ladders from the beach to the arenas or between arenas are common.
Possible ret-cons: I'm starting to suspect that the neolithics that live here are quadrupedal with an extra pair of 'free hands' so the ladders may need to look different.
