Thought I’ve been mulling over based on that theory of the Starfox characters cutting off their legs to pilot better. It wasn’t disproven, just saying.

Apparently they did it on the og art as a way to make them look more human not actually cause they had robot legs

They did it to make them more resemble characters from the 1960s Thunderbirds show, which someone at Nintendo (possibly Miyamoto) was a fan of.

Didn't Nintendo confirm the "prosthetic legs" weren't really prosthetic legs, but were instead an artistic choice meant to make them more resemble the puppets from the 1960s Thunderbirds show?

It was stated they did that but at the same time in an interview with Mat Pat on youtube they never actually stated that the prosthetic leg was false.

I heard about this theory. Though in Assault their legs look pretty normal.

On a side note I wonder how would metal legs make someone better pilot? How would cutting off legs improve their piloting skills?

Well the rumor was it helped with the massive strain of g force from flying so fast at those altitudes

I chalk that up to suspension of disbelief for the fantasy world and story the characters live in much like how can a spider bite gives someone superpowers. Either way thought it was an interesting idea that adds a little something to the characters rather than just "furry animals that fly!"
