Project Timeless Cast (???): Constance Duke
Boy this hasn't made any progress in a while. It was almost a whole year ago that I haven't drawn any new characters for this series... but why is that? Well, there is a reason for it, and some of you may not have noticed this, but I have been going back and revamping the designs introduced since all the way back with Ace. I wasn't too satisfied with the designs, they looked pretty bland or lacked personality- even if they did have unique quirks about them. So I've been giving them the retool treatment. Not only that, but all of them also didn't come with colors. At the time I wasn't sure what to do for their color schemes so I didn't even attempt them. Once characters started getting requests or commissions done for them thanks to fans that enjoy following this project, the concern that they needed color schemes became more and more apparent over time. This was going to be a thing that I would deal with much later... and now I am. But because I posted so many designs already, and I'm not too pleased with nearly all of them there is a lot of work I need to do to correct them. Hence why I stopped making new characters for almost an entire year. That and both of my other big, monthly projects were taking up a lot of time out of my hands as well, so this had to come to a halt.
Now that my hands are a bit more open I can resume this project where it last left off, with confidence. With that being said, here's a character that I debated for the longest time whether or not to create, but I think now is the right time to bring her in. Allow me to introduce you all to Constance Stella Duke, or Connie for short. Connie is a tundra wolf from the Allied Stronghold, and she's also Gretchen's late mother. She made a name for herself due to the help of her extraordinary skills thanks to her psychic powers. She could impress folks by making objects levitate off the ground, predicting the future by reading palms or Tarot cards, and even some rumors of her being able to communicate through telepathy. She had a lot of skeptics who thought that all of this was malarkey and it was all either staged or simple smoke and mirrors all to make a quick buck off impressionable young people and desperate housewives. One of these skeptics was a young medical student aspiring to become a surgeon, and was put off by anything and everything supernatural as he deemed it all being a hoax. A few years later, said skeptic doctor married Constance, and they both had a precious daughter whom they named Gretchen.
Constance was a doting, caring mother that took a lot of joy in raising young Gretchen during her childhood years while her husband, Greg, was busy crunching away at medical school to get his dream job of being a surgeon. While this was working out fantastically well it all, tragically, came to an end. A few days after Gretchen's 14th birthday, Constance died in a fatal car accident, crashing her car while trying to drive back home during a foggy, stormy night. The unexpected tragedy brought a lot of despair to Greg and Gretchen, sadly changing their lives for the worst in the process.
Constance is one of those characters that plays an important role, despite not really being around very much. Her presence is what's key here, especially in how she affected the lives of both Greg, Gretchen, and- much later down the line- the Hazard family. She also introduces a supernatural angle to Project Timeless that hasn't really been discussed very much with other characters but this should bring in a new element that will definitely shake up the world in unexpected but exciting ways. So for this grand return to more characters to the series, I think Constance was a good one to resume with!
