A re-upload of an old story on my other account(https://www.furaffinity.net/view/33268718/). I was nervous about putting it up there, only did 'cause I wanted some activity, but it should fit a lot better with what's going up on here.
Connor's eyes saw nothing but darkness. With no light source, the moons hidden behind thick clouds which had yet to open up, he couldn't even see Charlie laying in the dark beside him. Regardless, he could feel her, curled up next to him, hear her breath in the otherwise deathly silence. It was comforting to have her there, as sleep continued to elude him. How some people were able to fall asleep so easily amazed him. Maybe it was all the sleepless nights caring for Tyler by herself finally catching up to her.
Almost as soon as his thoughts drifted to the resident ankle-biter, Connor heard a soft shuffling at the bedroom door. He began to turn over, carefully, hearing a quiet "Momma?" as he did. In the doorway stood Tyler, all of three feet tall, backlit by the hallway light. Connor just could make out his pale green eyes in the dark, and his fingers wringing out his little tail.
"Momma's asleep right now, bud," Connor said softly, lifting off the bed. "What's going on?"
Tyler took a few steps closer. That was when Connor's nose caught the first hint of the smell. "I-I hadda accident," Tyler answered, looking down at his feet.
Connor sighed. As he made his way off the bed, Charlie shifted next to him. He took a second to whisper, "I've got him." When she didn't respond, he got up. Taking Ty by the hand, he led him to the bathroom. Tyler was still holding his tail to his chest, eyes wet. They were not, however, as wet as his pajamas. His crotch and lower belly were soaked, spreading outward in a circle.
The floorboards of the Old House groaned underfoot as they walked, and other than their footsteps, the only sound was the wind, blowing hard against the side of the house. Connor could feel Tyler dragging his paws behind him, shaking just slightly as they walked down the dark hallway. He hoped it was just from the cold which always found its way through the walls.
They reached the small bathroom, really hardly any larger than the toilet set in the corner, and Connor helped the wolf pup out of his shirt and pants. Left in just his leaky pull up, he definitely felt the chill in the air, arms hugging his tail even tighter.
Tyler sniffled. "I'm really sorry, Connor. I didn't mean to."
"I know, bud. I know it's not your fault." Connor carefully tore the thing off, and dropping it in the trash. "Now let's get you cleaned up." He smiled up at the pup as he took a baby wipe and began softly cleaning off his body.
"I've been doing good, too."
"You have, bud. But accidents happen, yeah? Even to the best." Connor wanted to comfort him, but his statement hadn't been strictly true. Granted, Tyler had been doing well for Tyler, up until a few weeks ago. Connor and Charlie both were beginning to regret the decision to switch to pull ups at night, with how often and how heavily he wet. Laundry was becoming a hassle, and Connor knew Ty was out of clean pajamas and his spare sheets were currently on his bed, and as he looked in the cabinet under the sink, realized they were completely out of pull ups. He mental swore, remembering that he was supposed to get more yesterday.
"Am I in trouble?" Ty's question pulled his attention back, turning to look at the pup, staring at the floor and rubbing his leg with his ankle.
"What? No. Pup, no." Connor laughed nervously, mostly focused on what he was going to do. "Why would you be in trouble?" Ty had to go back to sleep, but he couldn't sleep without protection, even if he had already had one accident that night. His eye caught on something in the back of the cabinet.
"Cause momma says I'm not s'pose to wet the bed anymore, an' I did it anyway."
"What?" Connor stepped over to the small closet and pulled out a towel. "Your momma never said that, bud."
"She did, though." Tyler was now in a full pout. "She said it to you last night."
"Oh, Ty." Connor huffed, laying the towel out on the floor. He turned back to the pup. "That's not what she meant, Ty." Tyler cocked his head to the side. "It's not something you control, me and momma know that. It's just that... most pups your age... it doesn't happen anymore."
Connor noticed Tyler's gaze drifting. He wasn't looking up at him anymore, instead, at the towel. "What's that for?"
"Well," Connor sighed. It was going to be tough for Tyler to accept, but there weren't really any options. Connor rubbed his neck as he thought out his words. “I know that your momma and I… you wear pull ups now, but we’re out right now and-”
“But, I don’t wanna!” Ty said, a little louder than Connor would have liked. Evidently he still remembered his old nightly routine well enough to recognize what was coming. “I-I’m big now, I don’t need it!”
“I know, pup, I know,” Connor tried to comfort him, “But you do need something on in case you have another accident, okay? I can’t just let you sleep in your undies. I’ll pick up some more pull ups tomorrow, I promise.” Connor held out a hand for Tyler to take.
He hesitated, biting his lip and look back and forth between Connor and the towel on the floor. “But… I’m big now…”
“I know you are, pup. Nothing’s gonna change that.”
Tyler gave one last look down at the towel, before looking to Connor and taking his hand. Connor helped him lay down on the makeshift changing mat, before turning to the cabinet. He saw the pup visibly recoil and whimper. He put on a smile to help relax him a bit.
Charlie was, despite appearances, very much awake. Agonizingly close to sleep, granted, but years of dealing with Tyler had trained her to be ready at anytime, a habit not easily broken, no matter how much she let her boyfriend think it was. When Tyler came shuffling to the bedroom door, she perked up, turning to see his silhouette walk in and climb onto the bed with her.
“Well, hey pumpkin,” she yawned groggily. “Connor taking care of things for ya?” Tyler grunted a small affirmation before crawling under the covers as she lifted them up for him. It was only was he pressed into her body that she noticed what was off, the dark having shouded his clothing. “Pup? What are you wearing?”
Tyler was very quiet as he responded, “I didn’t have any pants left.”
“Oh, I’m sorry, pumpkin. Four people in one house and you’d think one of us could do laundry, right?” She shifted slightly, just enough to make sure there was room for the three of them when Connor returned. “Connor will do it in the morning, though, so the pull up’ll do for tonight.”
Charlie heard a soft whimper, followed by a weak “Yeah.” She raised an eyebrow in suspicion.
“Connor did put you in a pull up, right?”
She felt the pup shrinking away from her touch as she attempted to embrace him. “Um, h-he’ll get more tomorrow, he said.”
That did nothing to assure her. “Pup,” she said, reaching a hand to his waist. It was met with padding, but certainly not a pull up. She could tell that by the sides of the thing, which were not the soft fabric she’d expected. “What are you wearing?” She had no idea what Connor might have done while he and Tyler were in the bathroom, but his track record did not tell her to trust him.
Charlie could hear him stretch the words out. “A diaper.”
At least her suspicions were calmed. Her confusion would wait a while longer. "Hon-"
"Cold!" Connor came in through the door, visibly shaking, even in the sparse light. "Cold, cold, cold."
"What-" Charlie held Tyler tighter as the bed groaned and shook as Connor roughly forced his way in. Cold practically radiated off his fur. "What are you doing?"
"It's cold outside," Connor said, as though answering all of life's questions.
Charlie still had more. "Why were outside? There's a literal blizzard out there."
"I wanted to see the blizzard."
