This is art of Relyt fox, but taken from blotch's design. I already gave a description of what I wanted to the artist who made this for me, then I seen Blotch's picture and used it as a reference. I wasn't thinking and gave it right to the artist without asking permission. I'm sorry Blotch for using your design.

Mayhaps you should have asked Blotch to copy his art? Or at least credit him? :/ I believe it is theft otherwise...

Hmm, I believe there is a fine line between outright theft and using someone else's art as a reference. Clearly Relyt used Blotch's image as a reference using the same pose and scene, but its in his own style, making significant changes that show it wasn't traced or simply recolored.
I'm not sure what to say as I've seen an artist get unhappy about a situation like this, though I think she would have been OK with it if she was credited as her artwork was used as a reference.
So yeah, credit should be given at least.
btw, Blotch is actually a she... two she's to be exact. Blotch is a collaboration between Kenket and Black Teagan. ^_^

Ok I dunno why I was under the impression Blotch was a guy. XD Sorry!
But I just know if I was the artist I would not have liked to see my art copied or 'used as reference'. :/ I've known some artists to call it theft which is why I did so. But permission should at least be given before drawing the same pic with different others. And credit given too as the concept was not their own.

Yes, this is true. In a way, its stealing ideas from another artist. Though if someone did this to my art, I would be somewhat flattered that someone would want to use my art as a reference. Though, yeah... i would want to be credited that the idea came from my art
Sometimes, imitation is a form of flattery ^_^
Yeah, I've seen artists get all upset over less.
meep, I hope I'm not stepping on any paws here. Just throwing my thoughts out.

I understand it seems wrong, and it probably is. I actually did use that exact picture as a reference, but in theory what if I never seen that, then would it be stealing? Before I had this made, I was trying to find someone to help draw this picture for me. I gave a description of nearly the exact pose. The day I ordered it I found this picture and thought it would make it easier for the artist.
well i feel like more than one person can have the same idea at the same time and well their are so may people in the world thats just how it works. i was actually inspired by blotched version of this and wrote a poem from that inspiration. i chose to credit blotch mostly just saying this pic (link) was my inspiration. thats just me, it may not have inspired you to draw this im not saying that. just that more than one person can have the exact same idea and whos to say its stolen?
It's not theft- credit is being given to the artist because it's being stated that the pose belongs to Blotch. Areofox- is right, it is slightly different and in a different style. Furries seem to get too up tight when it comes to what they consider to be art theft. What this artist did is really not an issue here- and I really doubt the original artist cares at all, or will ever even take time to look at this.
