I seriously can't get anything done on this stupid thing. I love my laptop and my xbox, but there is noting comfortable about this setup. My drawing area literally comes up to my legs. So imagine drawing on your lap...

Yeah XD I can relate, that's why I said it's most likely not preferable lol. Not sure how big your room is or what your funds are but, maybe getting one of those small tv dinner tables might help? It's not the best space but at least they come up to a good height. My back is a wreck so I know that the pain is not fun XD.

This might not fix anything but it's alteast something to help you maybe in the future: Illustrator Ergonomics.
I feel your pain thats how i use to have to draw. my drawing area's evolved from edge of desk to clip board to a bigger drafting board thati use to lay on the bed or my lap and draw with. took maybe 30 40 minutes before my back would hurt like hell. dont draw much anymore though so I've saved my back there. if you dont mind laying down to draw i'd suggest buying a cheap piece of plywood and going with that. if you have any spare room maybe a cheap table from a thrift store but I'm assuming your like I was when i drew alot, no room. wish i could suggest better idea's but other then a poratable piece of wood for quick drawing area's w/o alot of space I just have no other idea's
My mom has the same piece of furniture for her Desktop. Before I got my laptop I would keep my tablet on the sliding slab so it'd be easier for me to draw, but now I have my laptop on my upstairs dresser, I can just slap my tabby below that or use a regular piece of paper, since I have a new scanner :3
Ah, I just thought of something after reading through this! Do you have a wholesale club somewhere in your general vicinity? At such clubs they tend to give away free club sized boxes- I'm pretty sure you could stack 3-4 Tyson chicken boxes(the square ones, not rectangular) on their sides and tape or glue them together. This would make them about high enough to draw on while standing, without all the extra space or cost of a desk, and it probably wouldn't be all that heavy either. After that you'd only need a sturdy clipboard to sit on top. I'm definitely gonna try this myself now that I've figured it out ^U^
Consider a list of priorities. If you are on a budget and drawing does earn you money, then the purchase of an xbox before a proper desk for drawing was probably not such a good idea.
If drawing doesn't earn you money, you then must decided if it can and then do commissions or sell the xbox and wait for Windows 10 and it will play xbox games and you can just update your laptop with it. It will shrink the desk area down to your laptop and at that point you have more space and also more options for a desk. Last I checked, furniture stores exist...

This was 4 years ago. I'm still using the same desk, but only for my computer. Since then I've gotten a new monitor and desktop, laptop, TV and consoles, and another old desk.

I'm an avid gamer so selling them really isn't a first option for me, or at all really. I keep these desks cause it didn't cost me anything. Cant be any more budget friendly than that.
And I do make my money off commissions. Though I mainly do private stuff as of late.
