So, today I present to you a major spoiler for a series I'm still going to recommend, as here we see the Mega Jaguar from 'Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts'. For anyone unaware this is a fantastic series from Dreamworks Animation made possible by Netflix in one of the most interesting ways possible. Basically, an executive was trolling the net for ideas, and came upon a webcomic, only about two or three dozen pages in, and they immediately contacted the maker to get them to make their webcomic into a series for Netflix, or at least, that's how I heard it.
That series is one of Netflix's best works...this is still coming from someone who enjoyed Voltron, The She-ra reboot, and a dozen other shows they've done. I even kind of like Death Note better, if only because the ending isn't a complete asspull in the live action version, which it is in all three versions of Death Note I'm aware of.
Regardless, to this show. It's about a post apocalyptical world, in one of the more interesting ways. No great war, no big rock smacking into the planet, nothing cataclysmic this time. Instead, something cause mutations to run rampant, as animals evolved into either humanoid forms, or into titanic beasts called Megas, and some even added new abilities, like functional immortality. Fun times that.
As one might expect, society couldn't take this, especially with giant plants literally tearing through foundations of cities, and so society collapsed. People either became scavengers of the surface, competing with the altered animals, called Mutes, for resources, or hid in underground 'Burrows', to wait out the chaos. Kipo is from a Burrow, and the first season is her trying to survive on the surface after things go very, very wrong.
This leads to a journey that was just fantastic. With some really good characterization, some nicely paced out exposition, and just some overall great designs, and some awful puns. 'Th-otters Troupe' for instance. It hurts. That said it's still an awesome exploration, and even does some interesting things with forgiveness and what it means to seek redemption, and who is to blame when someone forces a choice on you, but you keep going. It's not that complex, all things considered, but it really does a lot to make you feel for everyone involved.
Heck, one character who is important, but I want to gush about. You might, but probably haven't, heard of a trope called 'Lotus Eater Machine'. This is when someone is trapped in a dream of their world/life being perfect, either to distract them, or to feed some plant, or just as a 'reward' by some bad guy. That said, it's done usually with a machine or some non-sentient(Non-sapient) creature.
Here, the Lotus Eater is in fact, a being named Mulholland. He gets into the head of someone, and gives them a perfect life in their dreams, while he 'feeds' of the neural-electric energy they're giving off eventually dying of either starvation/dehydration, or his feeding(It's not made clear which is killing them, though the former is implied). As the world is still kind of crummy, and most people seem to prefer his dream world to reality, he sees what he does as a good thing, and considering few, if anyone, ever breaks out before our group encounters him, no one has ever told him different.
That said, he is eventually confronted by those who...well don't want to simply dream of a better world, but want to actually make one. This confuses him, and eventually, they actually talk him down. This is because he is entirely non-malicious. He actually thought he was doing a good thing, that a dreamed life is as good as a real life, better even if it's lived perfectly. That is just...it's such a neat concept. I've never seen it explored where the being giving the dreams is aware of what it's doing, and has to be talked down. Every other time it happens, they're trapping someone in a dream for their own reasons, but not him, he legit thinks he's doing you a favor.
And that's just one creature, there's actually several like him throughout, which is awesome, and very well animated and designed. Also, Billions and Billions, the Newton Wolves and their Rap is just something that makes me smile. You can find that on Youtube if you want, but I would recommend watching the series in full if you have Netflix.
Something to say, while I enjoy Voltron and She-Ra, I will be the first to say, Voltron's final battle sucks, and She-Ra's whole ending is lacking in closure, plus it sees redemption as something that can just be given, rather than needing to actually seek it out and admit you were wrong first.
I don't have to say anything like that for Kipo. The ending is fantastic, the final battle is just perfect for what it is, and the only redemption that might be unearned, is at least someone who admits where they went wrong, and was on the path towards it, before the series ended, and that's more than I can say for a lot of series, even those aimed at adults.
As a final note, KITTY!!! I wanted to pet the kitty!!!

I absolutely loved Kipo and the Age of Wonderbeasts. It’s one of the reasons why I prefer streaming service only shows to regular television broadcasts, they’re normally the better shows. The main antagonist is easily one of the greatest reasons why I enjoy it so much. Although I still prefer The Dragon Prince over this, it’s hard to deny how great this show was.
I rarely see any artwork of this show, so this is definitely a nice change to see, I absolutely love the whole thing. It’s definitely something that I would see her doing just for fun.

I do love Dragon Prince, so far, my only thing is I'm waiting to see where it all pans out, as the climax of Season 3 works for a finale, but only just, as really, the underlying issues that caused everything are still very much in play, and we have yet to get info that would likely change how we view certain characters...also the Moonshadow Elves are morons in season 3. Like seriously, their whole culture is just dumb when you get down to it, and their 'traitors must have run away' rather than, 'they fought to the last and died/were captured' attitude is just...it's dumb.
That said, I think a lot of my love for Kipo comes with how well it stuck the landing. While I think Voltron has a great epilogue, the final battle is just pure drek, which, since it takes up a lot of the last 2 episodes means they tend towards bad, even if I love some of the designs. Meanwhile She-Ra is...okay, and it sets up the finale well enough, but there's no follow thru with it's ending, no sense of closure in a world sense, though at least in a relationship sense it worked out.
Meanwhile Kipo's final episode not only shows off the difference between an irredeemable villain and one who can at least grasp for redemption, but then goes farther, its epilogue just being fantastic, on par with Voltrons, while still leaving itself open for more if they want to do more with this setting and world.
Dragon Prince, I hope, hasn't yet had its finale, especially given the season 3 stinger, and all it portends for a future conflict...BTW, Mega Jaguar is cuter than Zeke, but Zeke is still cute. For a non-kitty.

I know what you mean, but I doubt there will be more of Kipo... and I would hope they leave it like that. I loved how it all ended where the villain gets the most poetic defeat for someone like that. I just wish that a certain event had managed to be reversed, but what are you going to do.
Also, who’s Zeke? I don’t recall anyone by that name other than ‘Thunderbolt’ Zeke from Xenoblabe Chronicles 2. Or did you mean Azymondias? I like scaled creatures to a point where nothing else comes close to interest (mostly on how they shed skin and other defensive means). But as long as I enjoy the design, I can get behind most anything. Sharks, rabbits, and mice are some recent interests. Although I could possibly blame BNA on a number of other interests.

I actually meant to say Zym there, it has been a few months since I watched it. As in, the young Dragon from Dragon Prince.
As to more Kipo, I could do with more of the world, though leaving the cast where they were. Still, as someone once said. The best ending a character can get, is that there are no more stories to tell about them. Hopefully, Kipo, Wolf, Dave, and Benson are able to live a story free life.
That said, I think BNA is the opposite there. As a fan of Trigger's work,(Gurren Lagann is the Ur story for Robot Anime, and Kill la Kill is fantastic in its own right), it feels like they're only half done. Like with Dragon Prince, the cultural conflicts are still there, and in this case, Michiru and her friends are stable, but the world is about to change in a big way. Plus we just got the revelation of where the Silver Wolf comes from, and we now have not only a cure for Michiru and Nazunha's conditions, but also a way to turn anyone into what they were, as they were stronger than normal beastmen.
So, what next? A question the show doesn't yet have an answer too, though I'm hoping it will eventually get more...that and I want more of Marie Itami, she's cute.
