Yeah, I get it-- the reality is the book will weigh right on the line of 2lbs/0.9kg (not including packaging materials), which is the cutoff from "okay" shipping to "wtf why". I played around a lot with the book's size/interior paper trying to bring down the prospective weight. However at 200+ pages, I couldn't get it to a weight with reasonable shipping costs without making the interior pages tissue thin, and I'm not about that. Live and learn on my part-- keep books under 100 pages.
Yeah I fully understand. I don't get this gouging of people needing to send slightly heavier things through the mail -- while business cargo shipping seems to be up to the order of 80% cheaper for the same kind of items, for no discernible reason.
I'm just really disappointed I can't back your physical book effort with this kind of cost.

The way a lot of the comic artists I follow do it is through having each book be a chapter of the story, then have several of them.
In your case having the whole story in one book is your goal, so can't really go back on that now.
Maybe something to aim for in your next big project!

Yeah-- in hindsight, I could have published a "Vol 1" of the current story at about page 85 or so-- but the reality is, this was before my Patreon and I was struggling to work on the comic. I just wasn't sure if it'd ever get done and I didn't want to print something that'd never have a second volume. Going forward I have a lot more confidence I can stay afloat while working on the comic, so the next chapter will probably get divided into two 100-ish page books. :]
I don't know if it's something that would be available in your situation, but I've seen where a number of books are ordered to a region as a group order, which is cheaper as one big block than the individuals. Then they're distributed out to the people in that region by an organizer/group.
I've seen this done for some gaming books and other products, but it depends on where you are and where others are who are interested.
I hope you can find a work-around and still participate if you'd like. :)

Well the postal service here (Sweden) are greedy vultures; even the lowest weights have "wtf why" costs or I'd offer to do redistribution myself for Europe.
I'd be happy to get a redistributed book through someone else (I did do this before) but I'm not sure how that would mesh with Kickstarter rewards as that is by definition based on individual pledges.

Can't wait to have a copy in my hands!
I didn't see the answer anywhere here or on patreon, but I was curious if you had an idea how long the length of the full story will be for future volumes and chapters. This has been a long time in the making so definitely congrats <3 I hope it goes on for a long time longer and that you've enjoyed working on this project for all these years

Heya!
I'm still in the process of writing the next chapter, which will pick up where this first (stand-alone) part leaves off. I'm going to try to break it into smaller volumes (between 80-100 pages, probably) so that if I print more volumes, the shipping is more manageable. Overall, it'll probably be a similar length to the first part. :]

I do have the option to add-on a second copy of the book to a pledge, which will save you a little bit on shipping (the additional book is +50% shipping, rather than the full cost.) The shipping is calculated by weight and two books combined will bump it up into the next category, otherwise I'd be happy to ship two-for-the-price of one.
Thanks! But there seems to be an issue:
Before you added the add-on to Israel, there was no add-on page at all when selecting Israel. Now it appears but it's empty for some reason.
If I try to select USA for shipping, only then it actually shows me "Another Copy of Oren's Forge!". Any ideas?

Finally a reason to join Kickstarter!
Seems like the stretch goal's about to be reached in under 2 days, glad to see you're having this much success!
Honestly, since I'm an American with cheap-o shipping this feels like a total steal! $30-40 for a quality 200-page book is great. Will the price increase at all if the books are bumped to hardcover?
