TheMidnightMageLa Kazar Nlm'zra, or The Rift Walker when translated, is the main villain of my fantasy setting. Older than anyone can remember, and a power to rival the gods themselves.

La Malva Setting
Longer than anyone still living now; be them man, dwarf, or elf, The Rift Walker has always been plotting his dark desires. Long before the kingdoms of Fel'tari and Everton made their first claims to the land, it is said The Rift Walker was a mortal Feralfolk. From where he came, or what he once looked like has been forgotten, along with his original name. While none have confirmed, it is said that The Rift Walker was once a wolf shaman who was one of the first to discover the darker aspects of magic, caused by the corruption of the Void. Amplifying his newfound dark powers with necromancy and soul magic, it became an unquenchable lust for greater powers.
Eventually this would lead The Rift Walker to seek out a way to extend his life, and would discover the art of lichdom. Utilizing the immense power generated by one of the many magic trees of the world and shackling it to his will, he was able to achieve a limitless life, not requiring the constant feeding of souls that later liches would find. With the tree's power feeding his near immortality, the vast swaths of land around it began to decay and the dead became restless. Claiming this now decayed land as his domain, The Rift Walker would bind the undead to himself, and spent thousands of year raising and creating his stronghold to continue his endless research.
It's been hundreds of years since the last time anyone still living has seen The Rift Walker, but his presence is always felt and his servants seen. With constant patrols of the undead around his realm, and raids from Gnolls, few dare to enter his land. What The Rift Walker has planned for the world is unknown, but he shows little interest in the kingdoms of the living, ignoring those who do not oppose him. His dark ambition will inevitably lead to the ruin and destruction to the realms of the living.
