The Normality of Hershel Dweller 009
<<<Previous page - First page - Next page >>>
Every person's last name is their clan. All dwellers' last name is indeed Dweller. In this world naming conventions are backwards, the first name is more important than the last one. If you don't know someone's first name the polite manner to address them is to refer to them by their clan affiliation.
It's fairly easy to tell clans apart, each have unique traits. Lizard dude here is of the Snatcher clan, they are generally reptilian looking. In the old days they were hunters and light infantry soldiers.

It's a limited number, there are around 30 different clans left in this world. There used to be more but many went extinct over time, a good number was wiped out during the Great Starvation incident.
Smaller groups are scattered here and there in the wild. Still living a more primitive lifestyle than the people in the cities, mostly cut off from civilization. They too tend to have Dwellers live with them.

The dwellers were only just recently introduced to all the clans after their creation during a certain period of time right? Did every single clan really just focus mainly on using the dwellers as a food source or were they more often used for manual labor in certain cases especially during the time they had a war going on? I can't imagine how much of a role or influence the warlocks and dwellers had in the lives of the clans especially after the creation of an artificial race plus the position the warlocks had in the old society, but it doesn't seem like anything good began with the viewpoints that they had at the start of it all.
The following pages will go into more detail about their history, the dwellers were indeed used for both food & labor.
Since the warlocks were the only ones able to use magic nobody really dared question their authority. So yeah, their influence on the clans was quite big. The gobblers really were basically slaves as well forced into carrying out the warlocks' battles, though given more agency to act on themselves & receiving less indoctrination than the dwellers. As long they kept the fights going, the warlocks didn't meddle too much. Basically everyone was trapped in an eternal match of Auto Chess, lol.

So magic really gave them ultimate control over everything/everyone huh 🤔? I’m also guessing that even the slightest displeasure anybody brought to them intended or not was just as likely met with severe retribution as well in the form of curses, executions, or possibly devouring the said offender where they stood in front of them to make an example out of them right? I’m sorry 😞😢😣 if I’m annoying you with too many questions involving this comic it’s just that the more I hear about your warlock 🧙♂️ characters the more I think that there was no limit to their cruelty from when they used to rule up to the very point where they completely lost control due to an unexpected twist from their experimental 🧪🧫🔬 food 🥘🍱🍲/labor race.
No sweat! I love talking about my own lore, lol. And yes, disobedience was met with executions or worse fates than that... being turned into living statues to be put in display was a common punishment. And you are completely correct about the dwellers being their eventual downfall.
