Aaaaaaand this is finally finished! Or at least, as finished as I can get it at this point. I wanted to use After Effects to make it pop, but I'm cool with it like this.
Gawd, I started this about a year ago now. Put it off for a while before finally coming back to it. I did promise I'd finish this one though - not just for you guys, but for myself as well. It's rare that I actually finish my own animation projects (ask ANY of my friends) and even more rare that I finish anything White Shadow related, so this serves as a dual achievement for me.

I logged out, about to turn the computer off when I saw this in the recent submissions. Im so glad I checked too, cause this has to be one of the most high-quality FA animations I've seen, especially for the quality that was just poured into it. I sure hope that you do some serious animation and make a profession out of it, you obviously have the talent for it :D
Certainly :)

They're all online Flash games. I did the animation and in-game assets for most of the games here.

How many hours? Uh, I can give it to you in weeks or months as a generalisation. I think I lost track of how many hours somewhere after the first couple of weeks.
I'd say about 2-3 months actively spent on it, though a lot of it was broken up when I lost Flash on my computer and had to work on it during lunch breaks at work.
As for voices, I should probably consider looking out for people to do some character voices for me. I just need to figure out exactly what I want first, though :)

This is freaking awesome!!! I know it has already been said like 20 times already but it just needs to be said again and again and again. The animation is so smooth and clean, the expressions are vibrant and easy to convey and I loved the whole slipping on the carpet. I have done that a few times chasing someone around. This looks like it was ripped right out of an actual high quality professional animated movie. Man the hours it must have taken you to finish such a project. I could watch this over and over again. And once again freaking awesome man... just freaking awesome!!
This is... wonderful! I've said before that you have a wonderful sense of life to your drawing, and seeing characters animated by you really brings them to a whole new level. The range of expressions you have here is impressive - the brief flash of the grin as she notices the sandwich, and the way her ears perk when happy and flatten back as she's caught is really nice :) The gulp and nervous grin are the cutest things ever. And the way her hair moves just slightly behind the movements of her head is a wonderful touch.
And at the chase at the end, there's a real sense of momentum - I love the little details like the sofa moving as the chaser bounces off it. The whole thing's just so fluid...
I'm very impressed - this is really something else :)

Oh, you're quite welcome - I quite understand, when you get this volume of comments! Feedback in my home of the music section is rather more sparse, so I understand that artists thrive on commentary, and try to come up with something meaningful about each piece that I really like. Sometimes, just coming out with "Wow, very nice" is unavoidable, but... well, I know that feels good as a comment to receive, too :)
.....o.o..... WOW.... thats amazing!!!!! omg... I love it ^^ the expressions are really good... and the ears lowering ^^ I loved that... I also liked the jolts with the camera as they run past it at the end ^^ very nice touch... I cant stop clicking the replay XD
you should finish more of your animations ^^ they really are great hun ^^

Days? I wish, lol! I actually started this about a year ago, though a lot of that was idle time since I stopped working on it for quite a while and I was mostly limited to about an hour a day due to issues with my computer.
I'd say it took about 2-3 month total, though I could do it much faster if I could devote most of my time towards it :)

Nice work, That came out real nice. Though I wouldn't be ashamed that you haven finished some of your animation projects though. It a lot to take this stuff to completion even for a second of animation. hopefully people seeing this will be inspired to finish their animation Projects. By the way do you plan to use this for your portfolio? if your not you should.
Pretty spiffy!
Particularly I really enjoyed the facial expressions and the transitions to specific ones. Then there was the short chase scene, which looked overall good in terms of animation.
For the effort and work put into this,I can only say good job, congrats, and hallelujah.'Cause I'm quite sure frame-by-frame work is a real bitch to work with. XD

Absolutely impressive stuff - your emoting is fantastic, strong action, nice story contained efficiently within the timeframe - not to mention the technical ability on display, especially with the cleanup animation. The occasional beautiful rough animation can be seen around the 'net, but well-done cleanup (and colors!) is a rare thing indeed.
Awesome, awesome work! You should be extraordinarily pleased with this, thank you for sharing it! It's really a delight to watch!

I slipped on a rug while running like that once, for similar reasons...Except my legs went backwards. Face + floor = pain. Very nice animation, I'm quite content to sit here and watch it for copious amounts of time. Except that the sandwich made me hungry. I wish there were one lying around in my fridge or something. But now I'm rambling, so I'll stop my comment here ^^
Absolutely gorgeous!!! The animation was really fluid, lots of fine, small motion that not even most animes can measure up to. You should feel proud of yourself!! 675 frames is nothing to sneeze at, and you sure didn't get sloppy or anything. Congrats on an awesome animation!! <3
It's a shame I can only favorite this once. It's easily the best animation I've seen from a non-studio online. You should send it to your parents and be like, "See?! That art school wasn't a waste of time after all!" >3
I'm sure if you did every other frame and tweened (so 12 drawn frames a second) you could have gotten the same results and done a longer chase scene. Maybe something to experiment with in future projects? I know classically taught animators balk at automated tweening, but honestly for short durations (1-3 filler frames) it just does the menial work for you so you can make more and longer awesome.
Keep up the good work.

Wow, that was super awesome to watch. I stopped reading comments after about 500 so I don't know if this has been mentioned. I kept trying to turn on my sound! WTB sound. It looks to awesome to not have sound. My favorite parts were when she looks right at the camera for a second as she looks for the sandwich, then the ear folding back, how cool was that?!? Did you see that?!! Also shaking camera when running past, tottaly classic. Loved it! *Fiddles with speakers* I still there there is supposed to be sound! I can practically hear the screaming!
Honestly, I can't say much that hasn't already been said. ;)
Great work here! You've obvious studied long and hard to do this stuff. Animation has always been something I've wanted to try, but never had the patience to sit down and actually learn. At least, not correctly. ;) You have my admiration, sir. :)

did you use Adobe Flash for this, or some other program?
and how long total time did it take you?
I'm sorry for asking all that, its just that me and my friends are trying to start an epic flash series, and Im the only one that can draw/animate, one of my friends can draw, but not sure about animating.
i just want to know the quickest way to do eveything so the series doesn't take forever to make..

i would like to know more about what this is in terms of characters and story or whatnot.
Also i have seen versions of this floating around the internet and i would just like to say that i am seriously glad that you finished it because its quite possibly the best fur animation i have seen.
In other words, i dig this. :)

Hard to say, really. I had each shot in a different file, so it varied depending on how much was going on.
I think the one with the least layers was Felicia's reaction shot just before the chase (probably no more than 4 layers). The one with the most by far was the chase scene itself. Due to the number of things moving and the amount of layering I had to do with the action, I'd guess that there are about 20 layers or so.
The rest probably averaged around 6.

It's been like, forever since I've seen legitimate animation. AHH THIS ROCKS. I am impressed so intensely by your short choice, great poses, and wonderful backgrounds! My favourite little animated bit is the second character's jump off the couch. What great fluidity! Lovely work, real animation is rare on this site!

...holy shit, look at all the comments...
This has got to be the smoothest and most fluid animation I have ever seen on the internet, so far, along with the "Last of the Dashkin" and "There she is" animations that are awesome too.
Personally, being a supporter of FbF animating instead of Motion Tween, this just blew my mind away.
Heck, keep making more of these... Animation Studios are always looking for new talent to recruit and some good old 2D would be great to have again.

oh god... I saw this back when it was first posted and I didn't comment!?! *facepalms*
but in all seriousness, is there any sort of monetary compensation, and patience on a commissioner's end, that would convince you do create a flash of roughly this quality and length for said commissioner?

I would feel bad if I don't fav your great hard work... 675 frames very well done animation of 2 sexy kat girls is not something that I can see always xD this is simple amazing, your color, your lines, etc. very awesome and smoothy, and the little kitty is sexy cute hotty! xD
Haha, very nice animation here, expressions are great, and its fairly fluid. I like how youve done proper cutting. A lot of animations seem to forget that animation is a lot like video, so the editing was very fluid aswell. Really nice backgrounds too, the only improvement i could say is pointless blurring/depth-of-field-ing. Very good use of anticipation and all that, could go off and say all that fun animation crap but basically, very good job :D
I read most of the comments here and noticed that you said something about wanting good sound for something like this. I would like to therefore submit to you something I worked on audio-wise as a proposal to humbly ask to do sound for this:)

I think so, but that was a few years back now. It was to do with the "Krystal can't enjkoy her sandwich" thing that was going around at the time. A protest against one of the site's rules, I believe.
This has nothing to do with it though - I just came up with this one a whim and thought it'd make a funny idea for an animation.

1 How Much Time It Takes This Animation?

I'm glad you're interested in the process! Great to see another animator here :D
This was done on two's for the most part, save for the last few frames with each character running towards the camera at the end.
I haven't really got any actual process notes on it per se, but I've got all the various progress stages posted up on my deviantART account: http://funkyalien.deviantart.com/gallery/80994
As for sound, MortalFate on DA did a version with some sound and voice work which works very well. This should be the link to it (had to search my browser history since DA's down right now): http://funkyalien.deviantart.com/#/d306jty

Ah, unfortunately not. Those are done by Fred Perry, creator of the Gold Digger comic series :)
To be honest, his animation style was quite an influence on mine when it came to working on this, and I was always reference back to it for ideas. I still need to learn to get things to moves as dynamically as he gets them.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, though :D

That was a epic job dude. The slipping on the carpet. The camera shake. EVERYTHING! aww. Gosh. Makes me wish i could do stuff like this. I'm a pencil artist tho. Aside from the few pic's on my page that might say otherwise. (Axereanden was done by a friend.) But aside from that... Seriously you rocked out the gate and i saw nothing wrong with it anywhere. Graceful and flawless. Very nice. Kudos.
Wow, can't believe that I didn't find this earlier. D:
Well, since I've found it... I love it! Samich! Hehe, you have done some great work here. ^-^ Personal achievements make me feel good. I'd like to see you hit more achievements whether they are known to you at this time, or not just yet. x3
