Stepped outside this morning for my predawn mile walk, and stopped.
Someone had been busy last night, and sure as fuck wasn't me.
And mine was the only yard so treated.
Yes, that's disposable plastic cutlery stuck, business ends up, in my front yard. No idea who did it, it forms no discernible pattern, and there were no attached messages (I checked the mailbox to be certain).
I have taken two photographs for documentation purposes, and picked all of the plastic ware up and put it in the trash. However, I will keep eyes and ears open - and shotgun loaded.
I'm also starting to suspect that my flagpole toppling over 17 days ago wasn't a trick of the wind.

UPDATE: Called the city police, and had a patrol officer and a civilian Community Service Officer respond. They quite understood my reasoning behind calling it in - that I'd rather report nothing, than not report it and discover that it was only the opening salvo. Of course, had there been something a bit closer to actual vandalism, I wouldn't have hesitated. So, an incident report's been generated, and at least two of the neighbors saw me talking to the cops.
I shall await Developments.

it's the Fast Food gang... they heard you got a healthier life style and they don't want you spreading the word... look close at the underbrush for a clown and a King with a head two sizes too big peering out at you.

Expanding on Perfesser's theory for a moment, does the B&B use plastic cutlery to serve the customers? The fact that you had knives, forks and spoons sprouting from the loam suggests someone might have been using prepackaged sets. Any wrappers or napkins in evidence?
How very strange!
Wonder if this is the "replacement shenanigans" for the old practice of school kids TP-ing houses? Since Toilet Paper is a high-value hoardable commodity now, wouldn't want to waste it flinging it around a yard. So now they take a trick from "The Tick" and go all in on SPOONs.
Heh
Filing a report was definitely the right step.
(gotta say though, regardless of the purpose, in terms of creative whimsy this ranks pretty high)

Way back in the day, mom joined the kids in a bit of creative mischief similar to this. It was still the era of TP-ing places. So late at night, we got out to do some alterations to the yards of some friends.
But, at her suggestion, instead of using toilet paper, we used that shiny silver "icicles" stuff we'd hoarded from Christmas.
The yards looked very festive and shiny with all that glittery silver hanging from trees and shrubbery. Bet it was a bit of a pain to remove though.
