Since I started accepting commissions in 2013, I've done quite a bit of character design work. Most were great, but some were not.
Designing can be fun, but there are a million ways it can progress and end with varying results. The trouble is that you have two different brains interpreting the same idea and that doesn't always translate well. It can be frustrating for both parties: no one is "wrong" or "right".

I wanted to take a break for a few weeks and put together this mini guide that will have 4 parts. I will include my experiences as an artist and hopefully help commissioners find ways to smoothly express their ideas and therefore get closer to their desired outcome.

This is not a "callout" or a "complaint" against any one person. These are just my thoughts and advice that I've developed over the last 7 years of doing art for others.
