The antagonist is a demon named Juuke who possesses people via a mask; he has spent a long time with Jorden, leaving him with a lot of lost time and he honestly has no idea where he is by the time he manages to get free of Juuke. Eventually Astrid (the detective) has Jorden work with her to do something about Juuke aaaaand that’s all I can say so far lol. Sorry for the hasty explanation, it should be better in comic form!

My variants is that instead of a demon it was a manifestation of the void hosting himself on the brain of the victim slowly changing the persona and taking their neurons as hostages but the smarter and "interesting" you are the slower
