"What a beautiful day," Dr Science noted, looking out the window of her small cottage. As director of the lab, she had a cottage on the other side of the laboratory grounds. It was a cloudy day, sunny but not too hot. The birds were singing, the flowers were blooming, and there was no obvious smoke or emergency response at Science Laboratories.

It seemed a tranquil morning.

Granted. She forgot her phone in her office the previous day so there could be any number of emergency messages piled up in her notifications. But there was no visible problem that drew her to the labs before her scheduled hours. No fire or fire-breathing rapidly-expanding dragon that forced her into her car to arrive as soon as possible.

So Dr Joy Science took a leisurely walk to work that morning. Enjoying the lush scenery and early morning breeze at an unhurried pace.

Even a plume of smoke erupting from the lab halfway into the commute didn't spoil her mood. That probably just mean science was happening. Plus, it's not like she could arrive any faster at this point.

(And in the end, it would turn out to be no major disaster, just someone using the popcorn button on the atomic microwave)
