I'm so uncreative, that I need to borrow song titles from Broken Social Scene as names for like every other painting I've ever done
AS IF ITS HARD TO TELL WHAT MY FAVORITE BAND IS
anyway I first drew this up and inked it two or three weeks ago (just before the origami convention......so same weekend as AC for those who don't know :B ) and I had done it as something to try out using gouache on :V I found shortly after that I didn't like using gouache alone >_> and because I intended to use gouache I threw in extra details I wouldn't normally want because I knew it'd be covered up.
So I started painting it with watercolors. because I like them so much better than gouache. after I did that I went in with some gouache to fix some of the areas with unwanted details.
hopefully they don't show
done with watercolors, gouache, copic multiliners, and microns and then slight digital editing

Yeah, the first thing I thought when I looked at this, man, this guy is totally uncreative.
Oh, wait. I felt the opposite of that.
This is gorgeous, B. Everything is so organic, despite being surreal. The colors really surge through, and there's something striking about plain, brown furred characters sitting between punchy green and blue with a red sun (?) behind them. The connections aren't clear, but that's exactly what makes this fun to check out. I don't know why those discs are floating behind them, I don't know why the male is touching the water while jumping into the leaves, I don't know what the female is tugging on with her fingers, but all of that is what makes this an exciting piece to study.

i looked at this when you first submitted it, but i couldn't think of anything to really say about it because i liked it so much. i guess i've always looked up to your art in a way, because you grasp traditional mediums so well and cleanly, while still maintaining a busy-ish feel... and the colors are gorgeous as usual (;
