Sketch of my HSD character Vickii, with some new upgrades.
A long time in the making has been my idea that I should fix Vickii's feet since she tends to walk around a lot using her magnetic hard-lock mode on her robotic legs to stick to metal walls and such. But looking at her old feet I constantly equated doing so to trying to walk around on stilts up the side of a building... so I wanted to fix her feet for a while. At the same time I also realized she's getting close to the point she's going to get another major character progress point.
Because she's got cog legs that are of the mag-lev family I also noted she can have the boost function to go super fast in a straight line. A combination of these two desires to make Vickii's design better resulted in the first rough mock up above. I still wanted to keep the spiked mag-lev vane sticking down when she floats, but to keep the general slender spine with normal feet I had to figure out how she still walks normally. So as seen, the magnetic vanes are on a slide locking track. When she is magnetically sticking to surfaces or walking normally the vanes slide back out of the way along the back of her feet. But when deployed they slide down to still allow for her to levitate.
I also added some vectored thrust vents along the back of her thigh section on the legs to give her the boosting ability. So she can dash really fast in a straight line in a single movement to match her extremely quick fennec fox playstyle. As a result of the increased power demand I did think it would be cool to show some more of the powerhouse behind how her legs work. The original intake fan on her lower leg remained, and is mostly used to power her mag-lev systems to levitate or magnetically lock to the floor. But the upper thigh now also has an intake fan, shielded by a small cross bar, to store up power for bursts of speed from the vectored jets on the side.
I liked breaking up the design as well with some additional colors just to make them a bit more interesting to look at, as well as keep the matte silver, matte black and purple trim design. That was a lot longer of a description than I expected but it was really fun working on and re-designing my gal's legs and some people do enjoy hearing about the design aspect stuff I went through.
Hopefully everyone likes her new redesign, and enjoys some cute fenny girl.
