Haiduk is the spawn of Ripkin and Malek. Rip has always been a bit vague about gender-related issues and he thought that producing his vampire mate Malek a bastard child would somehow bringer the two closer together. (M-preg is not that unusual, ask any demon)

It was a bad idea. Malek had enough children already and what he didn't want was a child who looked nothing like a human and still freakishly resembled him. He let Haiduk live, but never accepted him as his legitimate son. After Rip realized the magnitude of his mistake, he too lost interest in his son. Throughout his childhood Haiduk was pestered by his older brothers and no matter how hard he tried to please Malek, the head of the household was never impressed with the beastly son.

One night Haiduk had enough. He ran into the woods and never came back. His family has not so far heard a word of him. Not that they'd really care either.
