An American Bison at Henry Villas Park in Madison, Wisconsin. It looks so angreh! >:3 I guess I would be too if I had that much shag in 90 degree heat on an incredibly sunny day.
These have a very sad history. They used to range in grasslands from the rocky mountains to near the east coast in huge herds, with a population of 60 million plus. They were hunted and massacred by settlers almost to extinction in the 19th century, with less than a thousand individuals remaining in the wild at one point. Through conservation efforts, Bison populations are back up above 300,000 now.
