A short piece I thought up while working on some world building the other day. Hammered it out in a couple hours, and I'm reasonably happy with the results.
Uploading a second time, because I immediately noticed an auto-correct mess up the first time that I'd managed to miss before hand.

Shane felt the floor gently moving beneath his paws as he made his way down the narrow hallway. He could feel the noticeable waddle in his own gait, and he thanked the moons above for the noise of the rails as he squeezed pass the few other passengers he ran into, making sure to keep himself firmly between them and the bag slung over his shoulder. As far as he could tell, not a single one of them noticed anything out of the ordinary, but his nerves didn’t easily accept it.
Realizing he had reached the final stretch as he spotted the door to his cabin just ahead, Shane picked up his pace, hoping to get out of sight before anyone else came by. Waddling as fast as he dared, he fished out his key with a shaky hand. It took only a few tries to insert into the lock before the door sprang open under his weight. Shane stumbled in, closing and locking the door as quick as he could, and took a moment to breath.
As he did, a giddy smile began spreading over his muzzle, the tight feeling in his chest melting away. Tossing the canvas bag onto his bed, Shane undid his belt, letting his baggy pants drop to the floor to be kicked away, and leaving his blatantly soaked padding on full display. His smile now having broken the nervous tension on his face, Shane moved towards the window, not even bothering to try and hide his pronounced waddle anymore. With a loud crinkling from his behind, he leaned against the window sill.
Outside, rocky and snow covered mountain tops streaked past the train. Flurries of snowflakes whipped up past the frost covered window, kicked up by the wind of the train speeding along the viaduct. The frigid cold weather was stunning, but to Shane it was made all the better by the contrasting renewed warmth spreading between his legs as he finished off the already spent padding.
Standing up, with yet another loud crinkle, Shane waddled back to his bedside. He sat down, the inside of his padding still damp as it struggled to soak up anyway, to examine his new purchase while he waited to make sure it held. Tugging the metal zipper open, his tail immediately picked up speed, from the gentle sway of a contented mood, to the utter blur of excitement. He pulled out the bulky paper package and ripped into it, pulling out a few of the thick, black diapers inside. They really were thick, much thicker than what Shane was already wearing, with a smooth, solid black backing, and felt to be fairly sturdy, and high quality. That anything like them could be in a vending machine on a train racing through the middle of nowhere never ceased to amaze Shane, but he’d learned not to doubt the quality of what could be found in the years he’d been riding.
Figuring it was time to finally change, Shane pushed the package off to the foot of his bed, laying out the one in his hands to put on. Standing up, he hooked a claw under each of the tabs in turn, letting the old, heavy diaper plop down onto the floor. He picked it up, using the less soaked back portion to dry himself off behind bundling it up tight, setting it aside on his desk. A quick wet wipe, and he was laying back onto the thick, cushy padding behind him. Pulling up the front and taping it in place was easy enough, he had plenty of practice after all, but no amount of practice would make the tail tape any easier, as his tail fought its hardest to remain free.
Eventually, he had it done up, and gave a quick check to the leg guards before standing up. The bulky padding hugged his hips snuggly, fit perfectly to his front and rear. Running his hands over the smooth front panel gave a satisfying rustle, to the accompaniment of his crinkling tail. Definitely a worthwhile addition to his supply, Shane decided.
