The "Mickey-D's" cup atop the console is a great reminder that most trainmen "On the road" pretty much "Live" in their cabs, kinda like truckers do. Out here in Hesperia, it's not too unusual to have trains pull off the main line to the siding, and the crews would walk into town for a quick meal. the reverser doubles as the ignition key, so in a way, yes. To start the locomotive, you push the reverser in, then push the ignition button on the panel in the back of the cab.

Like a bayonet? whoaw! i saw reverser locking in british C 37, but it's too boring as usual lock. This system is GREAT

Well, our system is simple:

Doors are open, controll is working... only few things are: 1) minus detached from battery. 2) fuel valves are closed (just try to find one, it's NOT in place, where it usually "must be") and 3) if even starter working.... that's far not the fact you can run engine, without magic word combination, like: Блядь, ёбаная твою в рот, заведись ты сука уже!

*giggles* for real, last condition means you have to put fuel in the highpressure pump manually, till it start flow itself. (yeah, some of our diesels are so old, they haven't commonrail) or injectors are jammed by some piece of rust.... so you have to scearch where the jam is... or oil drained somewhere in the night...

well, some of our engines practically haven't need any locks - because even if you can, you wouln't WANT to steal it.
