This morning I planted a few more cherry tomato seeds and watered everything... the problem with Florida is the heat and sandy soil. For the garden I have been adding bags of soil, trying to get a proper growing environment. I try not to use pesticides because we have a lot of birds who come for the feeders. I saw a pair of Cardinals picking bugs off the squash leaves, and since I don't eat the leaves, I figured more power to them.

I miss cardinals! I never got how many beautiful colorful birds the US has until I didn’t get to see them anymore.

Have you heard to no-till methods for gardening? It might help you build up that soil. Also cardboard is supposed to be amazing in gardens. Worms love it! You lay it down first and then put your soil on top.
I’m really lucky I’ve got such nice in-laws that are letting me take over one of their fields! My father-in-law is out there helping a lot. He’s really excited about all the things we have coming up.
