nehebkau
Thanks again, mate... cannot tell you just how stoked I am with how this came out. Stunning work.

Ah, the real picture is truly delicious in its detail! I must admit, the stark lines and color, and the artistic styling really works for the Vanguard, I must commission this artist once I have a better bead on my new character persona.
And how have you been, my writerly friend? Surely you have some new musings you're working on for a fantastic Vanguard adventure? One can always hope, I suppose.

Aye, that is why I sent it to you, so many delicious details lost in the resized version... and yeah, the style is just perfection... Nehebkau is a great guy to work with and would highly recommend him for when he opens up his commissions again.
I've been insanely busy at work, getting further and further behind in things... home and writing? Completely stalled on TCW3, however have had some ideas for what was going to be the 4th TCW novel so while I mull over 3, I might begin some work on #4 and see what happens

As mentioned in the comments two down from me, I love the Mignola influences in his work. To be honest, I wouldn't have thought using it for a Vanguard picture, but he manages to pull it off with style, beauty, and badassery. I will definitely be keeping an eye on his work, after checking his gallery, he was is definitely favorited.
I can hear you about being so busy things fall behind, mine being stuck in a hospital for almost four months as opposed to the toil and drudgery of house and work. However, don't let that keep you from writing! I'm looking forward to more Vanguard goodness, it feeds the blood-thirsty alien within.
Looking forward to going home on the fourth of August, hopefully. I'm going to take a couple of days to just relax and enjoy going through your books again, before hopefully starting back on mine own writing. Ugh, that's going to be wretched, it's so rusty, you'll be able to hear the gears squeal from there!

After reading through what I have of yours so far I would love to offer any kind of assistance I can with your writing, even if nothing more than someone you can bounce ideas off. Hell, they don't even have to be porny or gay ideas (I am willing to make that sacrifice! ). Okay, in all seriousness if you do decided to get with the writing again that would be a very good thing. Just don't force anything, it will probably take you a while to get used to the whole being at home thing again for a while. 04/08 cannot come soon enough, just hope they've been able to nip that infection in the bud for you though.
As for artistic styles, yeah it ended up looking really good. Could have come out a mess in any lesser artist's hands but based on Nehebkau's previous efforts I figured it was in safe hands. I love trying out different artist's interpretations, you get some really fascinating results.

Your offer of assistance is greatly appreciated, and I will not doubt take you up on that offer. Be warned, and know what you might be getting yourself into though. My mind is a strange, oft frightening place for people. I hope to not only get a fair amount of writing done over the next couple of months, but also I hope to actually get my drawing skill past the third-grade level, and actually start drawing things also. We shall see how well that works out, and how well my plans for creative exercises to spur the drawing muse work out in the long run. Either way, I will be writing a fair bit, I think.
The artistic styling worked surprisingly well for the Vanguard, then again, Nehebkau obviously knows how to work colors to make things stand out in that awesome Mignola way. I'm looking forward to commissioning him someday in the future with some ideas of my own, both drawing and writing based. *chuckles* Of course, like everything else, that remains to see what will happen, and how long it will be before that happens.
As for the infection, it is more or less gone. However, because there is no well of telling whether or not it got into the bone, so I will be on eight weeks of heavy duty antibiotics by pick line, twice a day. An annoyance, but one I'm willing to deal with in order to keep another double infection from happening again.

Yeah, I have to say reading about that infection made me blanch and feel a little faint. To know that something like that was deep inside your body would just be... well, suffice to say I have so much respect for you in not throwing yourself out a window during that. Not sure that I would have coped that well, so seriously mate... you are the man. No two ways.
The offer of assistance is not given lightly - know perfectly well what I'd be getting into, but it wouldn't take much to polish up what you do already. Plus it would give me the opportunity to have first crack at whatever you're writing so not entirely unselfish motivations. Are you able to receive pictures of a... possibly disturbing nature "in private"? If so, I can share with you things that I have had drawn for me that I would not post here... then we will see how twisted and frightening your mind really is
Stay strong, my friend...

The infection may have made you blanch, however, it had me knocked on my bloody ass, along with the heavy drugs. To be honest, I don't remember much on Saturday or Sunday before we left for the emergency surgery Monday. Would it make you queasy to know that the infection had spread to an area almost the size of a small dinner plate, and it had a core about the size of a golf ball?
Anyways, on to better things. I have ideas, many of them. Novel-sized ideas, though I doubt they would ever be published. One is a sort of detective series, in the old hard-boiled style of the 1940's and 50's. Only, the world it is set in definitely isn't your normal earth. Then again, when Heaven and Hell have landed on Earth's doorstep, what would be normal, eh? The other, takes multiple jabs at multiple religions and mythologies, perhaps you would enjoy? I have three stories written already, if you would like to read some horrifically old stories poking fun at the Devil, Jesus, and a feminine, caffeine-addicted female Anti-Christ. :-D
Sound interested? If so, I would love to see some of these deliciously disturbing pictures that you speak of. You know my e-mail, of course. Perhaps your twisted mind, and my twisted, warped, and perversely broken mind can create such deliciously horrific majesties.
Looking forward to your answer, I'll be watching my e-mail.

The writing themes you talk about sound right up my alley. And feel free to fire me old stories, always interested in adding to my reading list. Sacred cows do make the best hamburgers, after all right?
And just sent you an email... best not for public consumption, if you know what I mean.

Heh heh, they won't add much to your reading list my friend, they are of the short story nature. And sacred cows do make for quite the delicious hamburger, when seasoned properly.
And I just saw the e-mail, I will be checking it momentarily... interesting, ver' interesting indeed. Consider yourself part of the Inner Circle now. Bar is to your left, sofas and giant sitting pillows to your right, and king-sized Snickers in the fridge. Just stay out of my Mountain Dew habits, and we are golden, my friend. :-D

As mentioned, soft underbelly has been exposed, I would appreciate it if it isn't torn open in public Short stories, long stories, just send me more of your writing and I shall be a happy camper. If you have chocolate milk and some peppermint schnapps in your bar then your Mountain Dew is safe!
Tearing would render one a much tougher underbelly, but there are other methods for making it stronger without public humiliation, which is not my... preference anyways. I shall send you links to some of my writings I have left floating through LJ, feel free to leave comments on the posts themselves, or better yet, email me your comments, here or through gmail.
Thank you I saw this piece that he had done for someone else: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2924674/ and decided I wanted something done in a similar style, but something that looked like a silhouette. Yep, shock-lance, but yeah, you could easily take it as something magical rather than technological.
Aye, you are not the only one to notice the similarities in style... Nehebkau's style is influenced, he holds Mingola in high regard.
The weapon is a standard Vanguard shock-lance, dual-purpose weapon for when they want to get up close and personal when dealing pain. Low power for stunning, high power for BBQing... OM NOM NOM..

Many years ago I used to manage an antiques and collectables shop owned by my brother. I do quite like SOME deco style stuff, but the "arts & craft" period items are the ones I prefer. Much simpler, cleaner lines.
Antiques Roadshow is quite interesting - funny to watch greedy people be disappointed when some of their shit turns out to be... shit.
Leonardo da Vanguardy.

Maybe I'm thinking of mod?
I mainly like learning about the history and story around the items themselves.
Screw this weird chest of drawers, tell me who the maker was and how his wife had died right before he quit making these and this could very possibly the VERY LAST ONE HE COULD HAVE MADE XD
Even some of the junk is pretty cool looking.

History is quite fascinating and some of the stuff you come across while working in that industry is really interesting. I have quite a large collection of antique bottles back in NZ in storage, and my brother collects them as well... some of the things we saw and places we went when bottle-hunting were quite fascinating.
