interesting if rather sad condition. by the way the term your looking for to describe hir condition is Atavism http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atavism
most common examples would be legs on whales and dolphins, extra row's of nipples on humans or longer then normal canine teeth. or to take chakats for example one being born with only one heart.
