so i decided to come up with a new species for the fantasy part of this universe im making and im going to call them the Cariavera. the Cariavera are a nocturnal species that feed on carrion, which they can locate easily thanks to their powerful nose. This powerful sense of smell also allows them to tell if something is close to dying, and will stalk whatever it is till it drops to the floor dead, but this has also resulted in the Cariavera stalking an assortment of folk from graveyard keepers, necromancers, and even vampires due to often smelling like the dead. While some Cariavera realize that their senses had been fooled and quietly leave to look for something else, they will sometimes attack these individuals if the Cariavera have not been able to eat anything for an extended period of time. These incidents, along with their skull visage, have not helped their reputation, being seen as animalistic agents of evil, they are far from either as they are very intelligent and on a few occasions have chatted with travelers who didn't immediately run in terror
