This is the black and white version of another one of the creatures from my Creature Page (bottom right corner), although modified somewhat (only two scythes, no back covering). I haven't finished the colored version yet, but it's coming.
In terms of movement, this walks like a normal insect rather than the left-to-right movement of a crab, which catches some people by surprise. The serpentine upper body is also immensely flexible, and can twist itself 450 degrees. The scythes on it's arms are mostly for stabbing rather than slashing, and the wings are mostly used to beat off attackers rather than fly.
This was partly inspired by the plant boss off of Metroid Prime.
